So whatever happened to the Thorfire TG05?

I’ve always liked the styling of the Thorfire TG05 host, and saw it as a likely option to replace my normal EDC if the need arose. It was a nicely built light, with the styling of my favorite Convoy host, the S6. Simple, no frills, and no obstructions on the sides to wear or catch on pockets. I was looking today, and found that it doesn’t seem to be sold any longer, but the TG06 is still available…

Anybody got a defective one they would sell me for host duty? :stuck_out_tongue:

And you have a cheaper one here

…and now I spot the Thorfire product Q/A thread…

But that Moonlake looks really nice though! I like the colorful options; I could use the entire set… My mother-in-law wants a UV light since she has scorpions around her property… Build it for her using the purple host and a 395nm emitter… My wife likes that shade of light blue… Make a Unique EDC of her own! The green just looks cool… Either that or the black as an EDC for myself. Just needs a deep-carry pocket clip option.

Nice and simple little light.

Hopefully the anodizing is decent. Dont forgett that there is also a code for this light. Pretty handy if you decide to buy for the hole family… :sunglasses:

and from what I’m getting from the reviews on BG it likely has the LD-30 driver. Also, where is the code?

The code… M4D M4X used to have one. Maybe expired by now…

At one point I was going to have a BLF light custom combo made with a S6/xiaozhi and one of these lights but the upgrade for the driver on the AA was always a problem …The elusive BLF AA/14500 drivers :stuck_out_tongue:
I was the one who got Fastech to start carrying the Xaiozhi host that CNQGOODS /ric was selling and then convoy picked it up and started calling the S6 …Later i asked fastech to start carrying the AA copy of the Xiaozhi/s6 both were also sold as X-power or galaxy …problem was Fastech wanted too much for the AA X-power and it had older emitter etc in it for the time … there were only a few members here on BLF who ever bought the AA and i was always mad that I never even got one myself …At the same time Ric also started dumping the S6 host and made a cheap custom driver version of the xiaozhi as a christmas special … that was the end of my dual light BLF custom light combo . they would have been basiclly a nichia 219A/q-lite type driver and a real clip … The AA was always going to be the tough one .//probably just a Nichia .

When Bugsy did the A-6 I felt like the BLF tube light had already been done although I’ve always hated the split tailcap ,clip and lame tints .
I’m interested in your opinion of the Moonlake…

I promised Keltex78 some pictures with clip attached. This is something I have been thinking about for awhile, because the body shape is not so “clip-friendly”, soo I tested all clips I had laying around. Skilhunt H15 was the one I first had in mind. Looked good, but would slip off sooner or later. At last I found two that worked good. Nitecore EA11 fits best, but I guess a spare one is hard to come by, or to expensive. The other I found ok is the one from AA mini zoom(TactFire, Warsun etc). It attaches good around the flashlight body, but the “long-clip” is a little weak(do not clamp very well), but I always have my flashlight on the inside of the pocket so it works for me

I really like this body style. I have another on the way(around $7 with coupon). Sofirn SF10 This version probably have the same driver as TG06(high,moom,mid).

Is it possible to let us know where to find this coupon? Thanks

Stay tuned... I've been hearing some talk about another letter being added to the TG06.

So far that is about all I know.

The standard TG06 I have now always meters out higher than the advertised output.

I would love to try out a tweaked up TG06.

This Sofirn site/store has some decent looking lights.

That NiteCorn clip definitely looks good… Although, for $50-60, that’s a bit expensive for an accessory on a $7 flashlight…. :money_mouth_face:

On Sofirn store front page. Example $1 off $6…

Really?

I found it on nitecorestore.com $5.95… but that if you do not spend 25 to get free shipping in US that is still to much I think…

Thanks for the coupon tip, I hadn’t noticed that the first time I visited the store. Although I shouldn’t have, I went ahead and ordered one for the kit. If I ever lose my EDC, I’ll have something to fall back on.

I hear that new mode is a big hit with cattle ranchers.

JK. That vendor has some good prices and nice coupons. Thanks for the info and pics. :)

EDIT: My attempt at a joke on "moom" mode makes no sense to me now. It seemed funny when I wrote it.

I got it!

I just received my Sofirn light today. For a host, I think I’ll really like it. It’s a couple of mm longer and thicker than my current Trustfire F20 EDC but is also a bit heavier, suggesting more mass for better thermal management. My protected 14500s are a tight fit, but unprotected for great. Driver seems nice with a four-mode High/Med/Low/Lower mode and a hidden double-click for strobe. Hampered by a severely messy beam though. I suspect that it’s due to the off-center xp-g2 emitter in an xm-l reflector with no centering ring. I’ll try to get some pics later but I can’t promise since I only have a cell phone available, making it a pain to upload at the moment…

Finish, machining, reflector and all look top notch though, I’m definitely not disappointed. Adjust or replace the emitter and add a pocket clip and this would be a great EDC.

Interestingly, the threads allow the head and body tube to Lego interchange with the F20…

I also received my SF10 yesterday. I got the “old” version with same driver as Thorfire TG06 High/moon/mid. I saw that they updated the description.
This one has nicer anno than my unlabeled one. Not so shiny…

Unfortunately no cow modes on this one
