Looking for a task light.

Howdy!

I am no flashlight expert, but somehow I stumbled with this hobby and now I want a reliable flashlight to carry in my work toolbox.

What do you think of the Convoy S2+ flashlight Seen in another forum that it is very popular and has a great price if ordered from china.

I am also eyeing the skilhunt H3 as it may become very handy for work tasks, and I guess the tint of the neutral shite will be much better than the cool white on the convoy.

Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions!

I currently use the Imalent H20 for work tasks around the garage/the house. a headlight is priceless, the Convoy is great if you are searching for stuff and only need 1 hand or for general light requirements.

Skilhunt H03 is a great light
Some people wear it without the top band, if you wear it like this it has more grip on the forehead

You can order S2+ also in NW

There are also things to get the s2+ better

So many choices. I think one of your first decisions is whether or not you want to use Li-Ion rechargeable batteries, like the 18650s the Convoy S2+ uses. Going with Li-Ion opens up a lot of options, but with great power comes great responsibility.

There are still a lot of very serviceable lights that use NiMH and/or alkaline primaries. I mostly avoid alkalines because of the leaking issue.

Welcome to the asylum.

So this skilhunt H3 is as trustable as, let’s say, a Fenix or an Olight?
I don’t know anyone who has experience with that brand, and the name (as most of the CN brand names tbh) sounds funni to me.

thanks you!

The build quality is the same as Fenix or Nitecore

It uses a DTP star which other chineese brands dont do, my Nitecore P12 had cheap 1mm aluminum star with bad thermal conduction

Its easy to change the LED
Is really lightweight
Has for each of the 4 modes 2 programmable levels
Has hidden strobe sis and location beacon
Low battery indication
Can run 2 cr123

I have the Skilhunt H02, which I’m assuming is an older model? Anyways, I just finished a week long garage and storage shed cleanup where I used the light several hours a day for the week. Mode spacing and run times were good, and I didn’t have any problems with the light. The button is big enough that I was able to turn it on/off or change modes without taking off my work gloves. Build quality is very good, and it comes with a quality headband and pocket clip.

Based on my experience with the H02 I ordered an H03.

I am partial to the Fenix HL50 for use around the house. With the CR123A batteries it is so light I often forget it is there. There is plenty of light and I really like the tint.

The CR123A batteries are very expensive if you buy them in a local store. If you order them Online you can occasionally find them for a Buck or two apiece. When I do I stock up as they last for years.

You can also run it on a AA with the included adapter. I never have. IMO it is perfect in the CR123A configuration.

Fenix HL50

Plus it packs away nicely in an efest battery case:

Don’t forget to check with M4D M4X for discount codes when you decide on the light you want. It might save you a few $$.

Good choice that S2+
Good light, just take one with 3-4 7138 chips for long runtimes.
Wait a bit till Simon has all setup again and ask for the new Biscotti driver
Cool think is that you can mod it really easy, I replaced the stock optics for a wide TIR and short 18350 (takes 16340 cells too) tube to make a really cute red light for my wife (she swapped it for the Thrunite TN12 when i did a review on it but still the cutest!

Oh and for less then $2 you can buy a strap to use up to 3 18650 lights (or just one in a multitude of positions) on AliExpress

You notice my H03 shortube mod

I also cut the upper silicone part off and wear just the horizontal band with the headband rerouted so the full silicone piece sticks to my forehead sitting even more secure

So I get with 18350 protected battery 95g total weight

Just a quick +1 vote for a convertible headlamp / handheld of some sort. So flexible, versatile for all kinds of tasks. Small, lightweight and compact too. I have been using Zebralights for almost ~7 years, back then they were the only ones doing it. These lights are still going strong, despite being out-dated by todays Lumens / watt standards.

two great picks …buy both

maybe consider the blue s2+ from gearbest with a 4c tint
