It’s funny. I know I have done and a few mods in my time here but I never seem to make any threads about them, they always seem so mundane or have already been done to make a thread about them.

Here are a few threads that could qualify, I figure I will qualify by shear volume if not by quality lol:

Texas Avenger drivers

PVC Sphere

Battery charging setup

Adjustable power supply

S2+ cigar rings

The bare aluminum L6, straight off the machine, from Simon Mao of Convoy! I think this is my Favorite mod I ever did or will do. From what it took to get it, during the early day’s of the L6 thread, how we shared knowledge/opinions and who made it happen (Jared), and all the unseen work, detail work, involved with this build, which most will never even notice! Like timing or indexing the battery tube, the center line is centered to the button, tactical ring centered and tail cap squared up to everything else. Or making a spacer to shim the e-switch and button up 1mm and shaving the retainer 1mm so it sits just below the surface like factory stock. Plenty of filing sanding stoning prepping and polishing, which is awful hard to do with a anodized light! Big Smile

Plus the built by hand top and bottom 17mm LD-2 driver adapter and retainer build with the uniqueness of being able to use both tail cap and e-switch to change modes!

Then being shocked at the output of the XHP70 P2-1C at 12 amps! Which has been reported to produce over 7000 lumens! Cool Normal people just see a flashlight, BLF (my) people see it as a work of ART! Wink

HUH Sad just noticed, the Lug on the Bezel isn’t centered! Facepalm

Big Smile How did I miss that!

Congrats on the 7000 posts ImA4Wheelr, and thanks for the giveaway.

I still remember reading Foy’s reviews on Solarforce lights, and it was inevitable that I pulled the trigger on a L2P. To this day, that is still my most used EDC light.

This was my first mod that I posted, showcasing the effect of heatsinking (or the lack thereof) in a L2P with copper sheets

Thank you ImA4Wheelr for the chance to win your 7000 Post Giveaway! The gift of money towards Mountain Electronics is a great prize and I agree about Richard’s tremendous contributions here at BLF.

Here’s my first official mod which was challenging at times, but also very rewarding: Cheapo AA Flashlight Mod

I’d rather use my flashlight around the house than turn on the lights.

Thanks for the bump DavidEF.

I don't know when the final time zone is, but I'm guessing it will be sometime in the middle of the night.  I have a presentation with my boss tomorrow at 10:30ET.   I'll shoot for doing the drawing during my lunch break.

Thanks to those that entered and to any that may enter before the final time of 4/20 (lol, just realized the implication of that).  Smile

One of my recent mods.  Swapped the old XP-E in my Surefire G2X with an XP-G3 R5 3000K 80+ CRI emitter.  Fairly easy swap but one of my favorite results, fair increase in brightness and efficiency, and MUCH better emitter color.  Its a pleasure to use now.

Hardest part was removing the lens and getting the MCPCB out.  The MCPCB was glued in and uses pins to connect to the driver.   Had to heat the whole head to get it out.  3D printed my own tool for the lens.

Congrats on the milestone ImA4Wheelr.
My first mod was helped along by a few early members that are no longer on the forum. Foy’s reviews were the best around at the time and helped inspire the best light I owned which I no longer have. The JM05.

I think this is the only mod that I’ve shared with the forum? It takes me so long to do this stuff and it’s difficult to document what I’m doing. I envy those that can mod and post a professional write up without missing a step:) For some builds I have even documented and started to write up a thread but I was never happy with the out come. anyway, I am going to start a thread for this one soon. I should just start it and finish as I go, maybe?

LightRider wrote:
I’ve been wanting to finish this thing off. I finally got it together today. It still needs a final buffing but it’s pretty much done. I didn’t polish the inside of the bezel to reduce glare but I’m thinking about going ahead and polishing that as well. Any thoughts?

It’s an s41s with a lot of loving. It has two xpg3 5700 90+ cri along with two nichia 219c 4500 90+cri. It’s powered by a one of a kind h17f+ driver. It’s was made my dr Jones and is a beefed up version of the h17f. It’s designed to handle the higher amp builds and has a low resistance fet as you can tell by the 21.6amps measured at the tail on a fully charged and rested 30q. A higher amp cell may pull even more!
It has a purple lighted tailcap drawing just 34ua of current and a 5deg luminix diffuser at the other end to blend the beam of the Cree and nichias. Very nice wall of light coming from this thing. I’ll make a build and sales thread soon. I built it with care and with the best of everything I have with the intentions of making a desireable light for forum members. Those around me don’t appreciate this stuff nearly as much as all of us;) anyway. Here’s. Peek.

Jensen567, Google used to make it easy, now they make it near impossible to imbed photos on sites like BLF. There may be an easier way than what I do but it works for me. I have all my photos uploaded to Google Photos to begin with. Then, I look up each one and share each individually to Google+. It needs to be shared individually for my method to work. The next thing is to go into my Google+ page and find that photo share, and right-click on it, to get Properties, and copy the location from there. Last is to use the Insert Image icon here at BLF, paste in the location where it says “Image Url”, and hit OK.

Thanks for the tip, will check it out when I get home from work. Was posting that last one from the phone and was having enough trouble just fitting everything on the screen. I do remember it being easier before. Might have to just start using imgur for hosting.

I really ought to do some more write ups on my mods too, I’ve probably done emitter swaps or full builds on 10 lights this week. Upgrading most of my fleet to the new generation emitters (XPL2, XPG3, XHP*0.2, 219C, 319A, etc)

Appears to qualify.  Boaz, our keeper of humor, is the winner.  Congrats man.  I'll tell RMM you're the winner and you two can work out how to make the purchase.

Thanks again everyone!
