Ultrafire C8 1600 lumen from a single 18650 3.7v cell

Excuse that I am an idiot here.
I am aware that not all people are honest and many one Bay exaggerate, but I am seeing numerous sellers with many adverts now selling Ultrafire C8 1600 lumen flashlight plus others from a single 18650 3.7v cell.
I have questioned some sellers, but they stick to their adverts stating it is fact. Checkout eBay tomorrow, I’m selling my old $35 pocket 100,000 lumen flashlight.

So how is this possible with a single 18650 3.7v battery, and an XM-L T6? Or do batteries run out after 10 minutes? They state 2.5 hours on full. Maybe they are a good hand warmer for winter.

I have seen a number of 1600 lumen flashlights, so hereare 3 types of different models:

Initially states 1 x 18650 3.7, but below in the advert states 1 x 26650 3.7v battery.

I did notice that 1600 lumens is plastered all over the adverts, but hidden down in small print it states they are 1000 max flashlights!

I am initially sceptical, but after reading the good reviews about Keygos flashlights, I continue with open mind...

Can you experts please shine a light on these?
Has anybody got any of these, or tested them?
Thanks!

Last I checked, the answer is it is not possible to get 1600 lumen out of a single T6 emitter regardless of how many batteries you use. Match did some great testing on this and got a shade under 1000 lumens running the t6 as hard as it can be run without turning it into a flashbulb.

Put simply, the ads lie. Regardless of whether it is one battery or 12, a single t6 emitter will not deliver anywhere near 1600 lumen.

that's what i call a HOAX....

If I have access to liquid nitrogen, i'd try to aim to see what's the max, for the sake of science. :D

Whenever you see these "measurements" from ebay, cut them in half. 1600=800 in this case. I have found that is usually accurate. These manufacturers know "lumens" is a buzzword of today for light buyers and they hype their products up as much as they can.

I don't own one, but I do own an ultrafire XML c8. Maybe 750 lumens. I have zoomables, but that feature gives a loss of usable light with its cool zoomy feature.

Two 18650s might get you over 860 lumens, but that's it. Although, you might still buy and like them anyways. They are bright for all practical purposes, and regardless of some number on a ticket, you may love them. I'm looking at several now. Just keep on being skeptical.

Usually a Chinese Lumen is about half of a Rest of the World lumen. So just divide Chinese lumens by 2 and you won't go far wrong.

BTW Welcome to BLF. The UK membership seems to be growing quite rapidly these days.

It's called lying

Sad thing is.... even if people know it's impossible if two lights are side by side ,same light ,same price and one says 750 and the other says 1600 lumens ...they will still buy the 1600.

they are lying ....and they are hoping you don't know any better.

I've not understood the Chinese business ethic. Do they really think the entire world is uneducated?

My usual response to specs. of something I want, is a big laugh. Then, it's purchased anyway, because it's needed for some unknown reason.

It wouldn't be so bad, but exaggerated claims are printed on the flashlight bodies. Oh, the pain! Woe is me!

If only it was true. So many non flasholics get sucked in by high lumen claims.

Btw, not chinese... but china mainland people

Maybe the rest of the World should change to Chinese lumens, then we can compare all. Or lights be rated with both ratings.

Thanks VFMaddict. Yes is it always dark in Manchester and now winter is coming. We all need good lights and hand warmers.

Most people don't know and do not even know where it is made or comes from. More Lumens = better!

Many (in the U.K.) expect what advertisements state is fact by law, so believe what it states. So yes most people go for the huge lumens and think that's what it is.

Others like me are more sceptical, but still hope that inside it is new tech and so will work better. So choose the higher rated in hope, and even if it is only 750 lumen then it is the same as the other so worth taking the chance.

Even you experts buy these to test and to prove them wrong, and some out of curiosity. So yes it is good marketing if not legal. It is all down to us not knowing and wanting to believe!

So hat's off to these forum sites and you guys for helping the rest of the World out. Thank you!
