Which solder and hakko tips

I’m just getting in to modding my lights and I need some help.

I’ve been looking at this solder
https://www.digikey.se/product-detail/en/Kester-Solder/24-6337-0027/KE1102-ND/101926

Is this good? Or should I go with the same solder but 60/40? And is the diameter a good all-rounder for most applications 0.031” (0.79mm)?

I have a Hakko fx888d on the way, but I don’t really know what tips I should buy besides the one that comes with the iron?

Edit: Link is fixed.

Your digikey solder link goes to 5 million item list…

For good reliable solder get Kester 24-6337-0027 Solder Roll, Core Size 66, 63/37 Alloy, 0.031in Diameter

No clue on the Hakko tips other than something in a small and medium chisel tip.

I have pure copper tips on my 936, they are great.

edit: the AE shop I bought them from is

I’ve fixed the link now. It seems to be the same solder that you linked.

I second this solder. Great stuff. I think mine is in that diameter too. Pretty handy diameter. I do some smd work sometimes and thinner is better.

No advice on tips other than to get a variety of sizes/shapes and use them. You will probably gravitate to a few of them for most of your work, but none will probably go to waste if you do a good bit of soldering.

My basic all around Hakko tip is the T18-D24 shape-2.4D came stock on my Hakko, my favorite! But I also have the T18-D16 shape 1. 6D which is smaller and then the bigger D32 shape-3. 2D and bigger for like deep soldering, example a TK61.

Solder, my favorite is STANNOL 0.7mm HS10 solder or Kester’s great stuff!

What’s the difference between 24-6337-8800 and 24-6337-0027?

As for tips I think I’m going with the T18-D16 and T18-D24. And maybe the one with the bent tip T18-BR02.
