I want XHP70 light... Suggestions?

Hello lads.
It is the time for me to have XHP70 torch.
So far I look at Thorfire S70, Convoy L6, Courui D07.
I think L6 would be the best, but maybe I missed better option?

I have Acebeam K40Mvn (modded by me), does L6 give me more light spill and throw?

Thanks for any suggestions, Mike

If you want a NW tint without modding the L6 is best
If you don’t mind the little cooler tint the Thorfire S70S is better (more goodies in box, better cooling, longer runtimes (takes longer to dim and at same cell level brighter) very easy cell status switch, and about 20-25% cheaper.)

If i were looking for XHP-70 i would want regulated output, but are any of them available and cost effective?

Interesting question, when I read regulated output I think expensive but who knows what input comes from this question!

Even a linear driver is acceptable, but what drivers are common, FET drivers will fall with battery voltage

Convoy L6 is my choice

3.200 - 3.500lm stock , very nice UI (tail switch for on/off function and e-switch for mode change) and has 5 very well spaced modes + hidden strobe.

Cooling is great too . You can also resistor mod the stock driver for less than 1$ , and bump the output about 1000lumens .

Hey sp5it,

I would avoid the Courui D07; it simply isn’t in the same league as the L6 and S70. Although the L6 is brighter on paper than the Acebeam, I don’t think you’ll notice much of a difference between 3800 lumens (L6 CW) and 3000 lumens (K40M). Throw is also pretty much the same. So basically you’re giving up the nice tint of the MT-G2 for the XHP70 with the L6 or S70.
However, as an owner of the L6, I can only recommend people to get this light, especially enthusiasts. The quality/price ratio is amazing, and if you’re into modding, this light is for you. Let’s say you fry the driver, and you can buy a replacement for about 5 bucks. Try that with an Acebeam… The L6 is definitely a must have in my opinion…

There is a new maxtoch shooter 2X with xhp70 led. No reviews thus far

mine has 4 + strobe ?

You’re correct , it’s a typo . Thanks

feew for a minute there I thought I had bodgy batteries .

The S70s is in my opinion the best bang for buck XHP70 light out there.
It is available for $40 ($43 less $3) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/ThorFire-S70S-Waterproof-XHP70-LED-Flashlight-3960-lm-6-modes-Long-Distance-Searchlight-for-Camping-S70/32791830137.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.0.EFWIPC here at the moment (I got mine from this store & already had the original S70 upon which the S70s is based :+1: ).
There is a sale starting in 2 days which lowers the price to $40 but I don”t know if the $1 store promotion plus $2 coupon will still be available with the sale price ?
If it is then the light will be $37 which is what a lot of us paid for this light a month or so ago when this store had a promotion of $40 less the $1 store promotion & $2 coupon.
Whether it is $40 or $37 dollars it is a hell of a light for the money at a genuine 3960 lumens :+1:

I can only speak for the L6 as I’ve modded a few of them. It is a very robust light…can be used to knock someone out if so desired, lol. I put fet drivers in the ones that I modded and added a XHP70 P2 1C for more output. The threads are great as well as the overall quality of the light. I’ve never held a ThoreFire S70 but if it’s anything like their other lights…it’ll be a definite winner. ThorFire’s build quality is excellent.

Ah you missed the tests, it goes wat over 55°C to a temp that can actually cause burns, no cooling is way better on the S70(s) even bumping back to turbo
I did not let my L6 get too hot and was annoyed by its high temps and the tests and simple weight surface area confirmed that the only thing the L6 has going for it is tint (and well BLF connection that is nice too)

I think it’s better to wait for the flashlight on a new LED XHP70.2
Or make it yourself.

Thanks for the input guys. That:

says, that I stay with Acebeam for now.

Cheers, Mike

I don’t own S70 , but a temp comparison with actual measurements would be awesome . For me , stock L6 doesn’t get hot (hot with the meaning i have in my mind aka can’t touch it ) .

I have both S70 and L6 and they are both very good value lights - 3500+ lumen for about $50 or less.

Although the S70 is a little brighter and has a battery indicator light under the side switch, i prefer the L6 shape and finish. You can’t go wrong with either one. Avoid the original S70 which had poor mode spacing that has been corrected in the new S70s. However i don’t think TF offers NW tints…

So you want a big xhp70 light, not a small one?

I will point out a few things that others have not. The L6 has a simple UI, the rear switch turns it on and off. The original S70 is the same way.

The new S70s works differently. The rear switch turns on to standby mode (no light comes out). Then you have to turn the light on with the side switch.

The L6 does have a smooth reflector available if your into modding the light for more throw. As for modding or even with a stock light, hIKARInoob has a good point that replacement parts are available from Convoy.

Eagle Eye also has their big light called the X9. It is looking pretty good so far. They sell replacement parts as well.

I also see the new MAXTOCH MISSION M12 XHP70. It’s new and about $100.
