Lightweight Chinese knives?

Ok, I have lots of Ganzos, Navy, Enlan and other Chinese knives but I find I carry my Spydercos and other knives more because of the size to weight ratio. I think in general, the Chinese knives are great value for money but most of them seem heavy for the size compared to more expensive makes like Spyderco. Which Chinese knives are not too heavy and chunky? Looking for light weight in a decent sized knife. Ideally, something in between a Delica and Endura size knife with a similar weight. Ounces matter to me when carrying a knife. I find I simply won’t carry a knife that is heavy if I have a lighter knife available.

Same here.
I have the Ganzo Firebird F759M ordered—because it looks like it is constructed more
Like the Byrd Cara Caras with lighter weight handle.
But I don’t have it yet to say for sure.
( I ordered pink handle—because every time I leave a knife on a job site—one of
The guys walks off with it. Maybe they won’t want the pink.)

Agree!

Not coming from a knife hobby, I always carry a knife in my pocket, usually for the simple stuff, opening packages, peeling an apple etc. Recently I fell for a Massdrop knife, a Boker, that I still think it was too expensive for my liking but looked good. Upon arrival it had one feature that I had not expected, it felt really lightweight (I measure 57gr), this is mainly caused by the handle made of titanium and wood. It actually felt a bit cheap but after carrying it for a week now I have become really fan of this knife, this is how an EDC knife should feel: hardly there.

So this is not a candidate (it is chinese made but can not be called budget) but lightweight it is!

I just got this knife yesterday. I have been waiting for something lightweight for awhile also. It is almost perfect. A little stiff opening is all. I think it’s only 64 grams and still has a ~3” blade. Sharp out of the box. It kind of has a handle ridge where my pinky would go but not if I choke up on it and use the choil. For $8 you can’t go wrong.

I feel my ganzo g753 very light for the size for example.

Sanrenmu 7010. It’s lightweight and comes with a really sharp edge. Pretty nice looking too imo.

I meant light weight relative to its size. I consider the Sanrenmu 710 to be heavy for its size since it’s all steel and quite heavy for being a small knife. I have one and it’s a nice knife but certainly not a lightweight knife for its size.

I just recieved my Ganzo F729 in carbon fiber and it’s not bad in terms of weight. It weighs a tiny bit more than the Spyderco Para Military but it’s not noticeably heavy for its size like so many of the Chinese knives.

Navy K633 (if you can find one somewhere), Shirogorov Neon Ultralight copy and Lionsteel TRE copy with CF or G10 scales.

Boker Plus Urban Traper - once I got it, this is my EDC - 9 cm blade, 51 g and this is the smaller model. Just found out there is also a bigger model with 10 cm blade and 75 g. Still made in China with VG-10 blade, not quite budget friendly though. I like the fact it is slim, lightweight and flipper, nicely finished too.

I have the same knife, and love it. Super slim profile and lightweight. I forget I have it in my pocket.

Does it have an assisted opening or do you have to make a firm impulsion on the flipper tab ?

No assisted opening. The pivot is the ikbs bearing system and works well. Flipper is smooth and quick.

It does not have any assisted opening. The flipper is very thin (shallow), so you have to use your nail and “hook” the edge. It is strange in the begining, but it does not require any force - the blade is light and it has pivot bearing (if someone intends to disassemble it - please check youtube reviews - it is open type bearing). There are some reports in the knife forums for rougher action from the newer production, but mine is superb - even after more than an yeard EDC and no maintenance, it opens smoothly. I just ordered also the longer “grand” version, will have it in 2 weeks and will report here if any problems.

The bigger brother just arrived - weighs70 g, bigger in any dimension, not just longer, also has bigger flipper part, you can now use finger tip, not just the nail. Again it is opening smooth, though it requires a little more force - I don’t know whether because it is new, or because of heavier blade, but not hard to open in any way. All in all - I think bigger Grand is more useful.

Have a green 759. I yhit resembles a Delica more than the Cars cara. I like it so much I have another one inbound from Fasttech together with a Ganzo G729-CA.

Can’t find it…could you help?

Ganzo has some new knives with drilled liners and carbon fiber scales in their Firebird line. They are ~1-1.5 oz. lighter than regular Ganzos, depending on model. (Yes, I bought a bunch and weighed them. )

Here’s one, for example:
