I get the impression that Haikelite is using some kind of random generator to name their lights. Devourer, Buffalo, Trekker… What’s next?

They might host their very own gb like previous... let me ask Lee. If it is not too expensive, this could be my first HaikeLite.

How about freeme organizes a GB and let banggood/gearbest ship the light instead?

They will publish more pics and test results in a few days time. No plans for group buy (their end) from what i have heard.

I really want one of these for some reason!

So what are they going for on this one? Quality and practicality instead of just lots of lumens?

Well, the devourer actually devours a lot of darkness.
The buffalo looks a bit like a buffalo with the big front section..
This trekker could be good for trekking (hiking etc.) i suppose.

Looking for:

5” parabolic reflector (for recoil light)

Personally I figured the reason to call the MT07 Buffalo, is to relate the product to a strong wild animal, just like Ford Mustang.
But, you made me realise I made a mistake. What I meant to say is that if you name a light Devourer (which makes sense), then why name the other light Buffalo, or vice versa?
Each name can be explained like you did, but there is no coherence between the three names. It makes more sense (I think) to stick with one theme. This holds true as well for the code of the products where there is coherence: MT01, MT03, MT07.
Certainly no complaint, but it makes me scratch my head.

Yeah, the Buffalo is the only animal and the only name referring to the design / shape of the light.
“Devourer” is a bit of a questionable name i.m.o.
It is the best looking one of the 3 models though.
I got one recently, the 2nd generation with cool white XHP70.
It’s just stupid bright. Cool

How do you like the quality of the light? Fit and finish all good?

I have one of each tint (MT03)…both are perfect, new switch…very solid and nice looking…no imperfections. I haven’t’ taken it apart or anything to look for scratches on the board, or improper thermal paste application…etc.

When I'm spending money foolishly, I like to do it wisely...

HaikeLite mentioned that MT01 will have better finishing than MT03.

Yeah, it’s very nicely put together.
As we speak i’m tearing it down though. Big Smile
I’ll open a topic on it because i want to mod it here and there.
The obvious spring bypasses of course, but i think it would be good to put in beefy coils in stead of the rather tiny ones it has now.
Then i can raise the current a little, hopefully getting it to do 12000 Lumen or more. Silly
Eventually i want to put XHP70.2 (3A tint) in it, and i’m thinking about different optics too, maybe TIR optics.
But we’ll see about that later…
