I have not kept any of my larger Victorinox knives because I am not much of a camper. The larger knives are very nice. I enjoy finding work around the house that can be done with the medium size tools 85/91mm without needing to get my regular tool box.
Does anyone remember the day, when you where in the woods somewhere and your father handed his Victorinox the first time for carving a stick or a piece of wood?
I do! Great memory!
I still own my first Victorinox, but it’s in a bad shape at the moment.
Would like to refurbish it some day.
Yes. Those are the two brands making the SAK.
If I’m not wrong Victorinox was first.
Trivia: the smith’s wife who invented it was named Victoria, the Inox at the end just means inoxidable, in Europe still up today an abbreviation used for stainless steel.

You reminded me of something,,,,,,,,,,since you live in Germany you must of heard of this product….called Penaten.Great product,,,,,been using it for years and discovered it on a German shepherd website for a condition that my Husky also had called “Lip fold Pyoderma”!
iirc the man who started/invented the product named it Penaten because his Wife liked the Roman meaning/God that it was named after!
In ancient Roman religion, the Di Penates or Penates (/pᵻˈneɪtiːz/; Latin: dī penātēs [ˈdiː ˈpɛ.naːteːs]) were among the dii familiares, or household deities, invoked most often in domestic rituals. When the family had a meal, they threw a bit into the fire on the hearth for the Penates.1
American company Johnson and Johnson owns it now and it is made in Italy and France,,,,,,,still German ingenuity and German written all over the Tin it is in! My Neighbor who is from Germany translated it for me!
My girlfriend’s Mother was born in Kindeheim, which is 12KM west of Manheim and 7Km from Kallstadt where President Trumps Grandfather was from!!!!.Friedrich Trump whose original name was “Drumph” in the 1600’s and then changed!
That is my German back round besides the 1/8 ethnicity and the rest is mostly Italian.
Sentimental trivia is over!

Ive collected SAKs for 60yrs and I used to buy bulk TSA Airport Auctions. This is probably about 1/2 of what I have.
Most of the ones shown are new or like new………. the others I restore when I have time and use for gifts

WOW now that is a collection…………..
Over the years many have gone through my hands(literally in some cases!), small is good for EDC. One thing i do not like is the key ring attachment, for me its at the wrong end of the mini body for opening the knife on keys. Makes it awkward to hold/use, so not sure how long it will last on my keys for now…………
Holy cow Coscar! I’m very happy with my Victorinox Bantam which is all I need to discretely use at work or to open a beer when I don’t have a bottle opener handy.

I’d rather use my flashlight around the house than turn on the lights.
^Now that’s some dedication !
I EDC a Vic Spartan for 5 years in my left Pocket, I don’t know how I’ve done before !
From toothpick and tweezers to cap lifter and corkscrew (yeah I’m French…), I can’t even decide which one is the most useful !

"Hey -X3-, do you have a flashlight ?" "-X3-, can I borrow one of your flashlights ?"
For years I have tried to EDC all sorts of knives, including very nice knives that are discussed on BLF. The longest they last is three weeks and then I come back to my Victorinox. The knife is a good size, it has the extra tools I want all the time, and it is the only knife that you can pull out completely hassle-free in public. My current Victorinox is a Pioneer and it is the best sofar! (I keep loosing them at airports and then Coscar buys them up )
Wow that is so impressive! Which one is your favourite?
Geeez Snor, like asking a parent which kid. Ironically now my EDC is a single blade SAK called the Gardner(bottom row/middle). When I was still doing carpentry I carried the 4”+ #0.8463.3 – Trailmaster. (bottom row, just left of Gardner).
If I am going to carry around a larger SAK the Evogrip 16 is a good size. I have not carried around a knife of this size since around 1994. My elderly in laws have something to fix at their house often so I take this knife or a Leatherman Blast to fix things on the fly when visiting. The Ganzo multi-tools just do not cut the mustard.
I didn’t know that. Thanks for the info. Wish I’d kept the big Wenger tent I had. Sold it at a loss to a friend who was taking his family on a trip to California. At least I still have the nice thick down sleeping bag.
How I’d love to pack up my gear and head off somewhere to spend a week away from the city, fishing and spending time with friends surrounded by trees and try out the gear I’ve accumulated. Molle pack on gen iv frame with custom lashing straps and gear ready to pack. Unfortunately no takers among my friends and it seems a bit foolish to make such a trip alone.
The victorinox tinker may be the most perfect pocket knife I’ve ever owned. It’s size and weight for utility is unmatched imo. If you go with a third layer sak you may as well get a leatherman juice sized multitool because of thickness inside the pocket. I have a deluxe tinker that collects dust for that reason. The tinker is just perfection though love love love that knife.
how do you sharpen the straight blades? Are they hair-splitting sharp? why not?
i don’t mean hair-shaving sharp.
i mean hair-splitting sharp.
Sure.

My gem:
When you’re born you get a ticket to the freak show. When you’re born in America, you get a front-row seat.
I hardly ever have to sharpen the blades. They start very sharp and stay that way.
Nice

this is my EDC
saved me a lot times going to the car to catch the big tool box
i even fixed an respirator while a surgery was done with it...

Wenger is no more. They were acquired by Victorinox in 2005 and the separate name was dropped altogether in 2013.

They still make watches under the Wenger brand.

My only Wenger.
I made an entire fence using this little saw on Wenger.

I’ve carried one of these for the last 20 years or so, after many years of carrying a Case Stockman. The Vic just has more things I need.
I’m glad I had sense enough to tuck away a spare new one, just in case I ever lose this one, or wear it out.

As a recent SAK fan, I own several different Vic models (so far, a dozen), and currently EDC a Vic Hiker.
Also have this one, the Swiza D02

(Very nice but a bit more expensive than their Victorinox competitors)
I need to get some Wengers for my collection now!

Has anybody modded a SAK with a LED, e.g. a spartan light?

Much lower price than Amazon.
