44mm zoom bike XML 4x18650. Any thoughts?

Looks like a good light at a good price. I’ve been looking for something like this for a while. Interested in beam angle for visibility to cars left and right. These are unregulated power supply correct?

What makes you think this is a good light if I may ask?

It using an XML T6 tells me it is outdated and not great, obviously the 3000 lumen rating is grossly overstated and included batteries will most certainly be poor quality cells. I notice in the listing where it mentions shipping options, that they will not be shipping the battery except by Sw Post and NL post, which means US buyers will pay the same price for the light but not receive the battery.

Honestly, a $5 generic zoomie with $3 bicycle mount would get you the exact same output, with plenty of $ left over for cells.

Definitely a better light, certainly brighter, the unknown is eliminated thanks to member review, and it’s only $10 more and on Amazon so you can have it in days as opposed to weeks.

You make a good point about the battery. Seems like all these budget bike lights around $17-$25 have subpar batteries. I was mostly focused on the light itself. I ride mostly urban and having a light with a wide beam angle is important to me for maximum visibility to cars that are pulling out of side streets. This light has a 44mm lens which is pretty good and if I am not mistaken the bigger the lens generally means a wider beam width/angle?

I was thinking about buying a separate 4x18650 holder like the “”sandstorm”:http://www.gearbest.com/diy-parts-and-tools/pp_119294.html?currency=USD&vip=760383&gclid=CPax1I7DtNMCFZYDhgodwqULxQ” model and putting some old LG’s from a laptop salvage I have in there. Those boxes don’t come with a charger so that is another reason to buy the original light package because it will be able to charge the aftermarket box with my own cells.

Just wanted to throw that out there and see if that makes sense or sounds like a good plan?

I have been using a big zoomie for years but the problem is the one battery. I get stingy with using high because it only has one 18650 and its a pain to swap them out and charge them all the time. Im thinking this light will be easy to charge with a single plug and it has a big capacity so I wont feel bad running it on high.

It does sound like a good plan, as long as the charging algorithm and termination on the included charger is good.

I thought the need of larger aspheric was for capturing the wider led emission to focus it into a spot. In other words larger aspheric for longer throw. A bare XML puts out 125 degrees of light.

My widest zoomie puts out an 85 degree flood angle with something like a 1” lens.
It’s actually wider with the zooming slide removed just run as a mule.

isnt XML T6 meaning LaticeBright blueness nowadays?

A bikelight should be waterproof at least
