Build service for Convoy C8 in Europe interest check

I’m thinking of starting a build service for Convoy C8 for us Europeans. For starters I’d build them with Xp-l Hi V3 3C on Noctigon, a Fet+1 driver, AR-lens and glow in the dark O-ring

I’m also thinking of building Jaxman E2L triples when they’re available again.

Price would be around 40 euros plus shipping.

If you’re interested feel free to shoot me a PM.

Do you mean something like this :

Hm. Wasn’t aware of that. Guess I’ll have to lower my price then.

I also don’t know if they even do international shipping… Not a English word on that site.

What did you had as price?
$40 seems reasonable
Good Convoy C8 with XPL HI max $25
Lighted tail switch assembly ~$3 (AliExpress)
Bistro driver was $7 at Banggood right?
Just $5 for putting it all together
One would have a clear C8 tested and all.

I had 45-50 at first. Thinking about now it seems a bit high at 50. Including a AR-lens for ~3 usd and the bistro driver is now 8.99 usd.

So it would be:

Black convoy host = 11.99 usd
NOCTIGON XP20 & CREE XP-L HIGH INTENSITY V3 3C = 6.98 usd
BLF bistro driver = 8.99 usd
AR-Lens = 2.65 usd
GITD O-ring = 0.73 usd

  • Material and work.

Not sure if I want to use the lighted tailcap, because you’ll lose the ability to go back in modes.

I’m not really out to make any big money. The modding will be rewarding enough.

Doesn’t the new XPLhi Convoy C8 comes with AR glass and DTP star?
Lighted tailcap losing long press to go back? Hmm I only know the Kronos Bistro driver and no issue there but of course it drains the cell more then no light.

Ah yes a black Convoy C8 with AR glass and XPL hi is 21,30 at Simon, but you get 15% discount so about $18,16, which is less then your ~$21,50

You don’t ask much, for you not only offer tested well modded lights also shipping will be much faster and no tax hassle.

Does Simon offer some kind of faster shipping? I ordered my L6 from him but I don’t recall seeing a faster option. If that’s the case I would gladly order from him. The only reason I chose Banggood is because the 7-12 days form only 2-3 usd. And that they of course have the bistro driver.

About the lighted tailcap I’m not sure. I’ve read reports that they lose it. And mine did also do that. Also with that tailcap I got some sort of weird flicker going back to moonlight from turbo. Maybe mine is faulty? I have a few spares, so I’ll see if changing it would make a difference.

I’d say order beforehand
So if you get a few interested order a couple more (in separate orders also on BG it is my choice to split for if something is wrong easier to talk about an order with one thing, but I never pay for faster shipping.)
Simon takes long but it gets there , if you show some beamshots more probably want and then you have some stock

in Bistro the long press from ML will reverse to several different strobe modes.

If it were me I would avoid the lighted tail on lights I was going to sell. It’s a can of worms I wouldn’t want to have to support.
If I am not mistaken, a different battery may effect function or brightness of the tail. Let alone internal resistance of the body itself may vary from build to build.
A6 driver was not made to have the lighted tail, but can be modified.
The BLF X5 driver was made for lighted tail and malfunctions too frequently on lights out of the box. Some say its poor quality capacitors used on it.
Most of the factory Astrolux lights had a single LED on the tail and the replacement lighted tail switches have 2X LEDs and 2X resistors.
I can’t say that the new 2X led tail SW is a flawless swap to the lights with a single LED. Well… flawless is an open argument as it may not have worked properly before.

I have tried, playing with these tails and tried the new lighted tail SW replacements. Too many variables from light to light and driver to driver variations to get consistent functioning results. I honestly do not know enough of why things happen or change to make one work flawless or not with Bistro. But some things to consider…

Yeah, I’ll include some beamshots some time next week. I’ll probably do a head to head with my stock Lumintop td16 xpl hi, measured a little over 50kcd.

Problem is that I still need to change the emitter to a V3 to get the most out of it. So that would be 21.30 + 6.98.

Ah yes then your list is better

Its not a bad idea I think it would be great for people wanting modded ligjt but don’t want to attempt it themselves. Just some suggestions though.

Don’t limit yourself to just xpl hi, offer the whole range. Xml2 & dedomed, xpg2 dedomed, xpl hi, xpl2, xpl v6 1a or 0d dedomed etc. Don’t forget the switch and driver spring bypasses. I would avoid the lighted tailcaps as well unless requested. And mention they arnt the most reliable. If you could order ee x6 host you could offer either c8 or x6 build service. Since those are the two most popular pocket throwers around they take the same drivers and mcpcbs

That’s good advice! I’ll certainly at some point offer dedomes as well. I just have to get more experience with dedoming before I decide to sell them.

I don’t know if there is a shop in the EU that offers it. But mtnelectronics offers LEDs already dedomed. I know he does Intl shipping but its $11+ I believe.

I know DD xpl2 makes over 2k lumens in a c8. One day I want one of those

There’s a shop in the UK that offers it, but somehow they have shipping to Sweden from 8.99 pounds…

Ya idk, I guess the order amount would have to ve enough to justify the cost of shipping. I hesr the xml2 dedomes easily. Idk about the other leds
