Car high beam LEDs

I would like a couple of extra LED high beam lights for my car to install where fog lights would go.

I think i have room for a light with a 100 - 120 mm diameter there, i would like a narrow beam and with LUMEN that are in danger of starting a bush fire.

I have not yet found something interesting myself, so i figured why not ask the guys in here.

I can find powerfull high beams, but then they are also pretty large and will not fit down low on my little Suzuki, but judging by flashlights it must be out there.

I’ve been searching for something similar, and these fit in a ~100mm round area. Offered in spot, flood, and combo, in white or yellow. Maybe they are offered/distibuted in the EU.

Its possible someone with more knowledge then me will chime in a couple reflectors wired to the 12volt system shouldn’t be very hard to do. Just have to run a wire through the firewall to a switch for you. A driver that can handle the voltage spikes of a 12volt system. A 12-24volt driver should suffice

This type of light could harm other drivers and cause accidents and deaths, thats why headlight beam design is regulated by law.

My car are the bottom of the line model, but i assume the wiring for the original fog lights are still there, just missing the dashbord switch and the 2 lights out front.

I am not too bothered about the lights them self, i had some big ass high beams on my Mitsubishi pickup back in the day, we nicknamed them instant daylight, and they was quite useful if a oncoming car forgot to get off his high beams.

And many Danes now use their fog lights day and night fog or not, and this are also illegal but we have no cops to tell that to people and many Danes are now too stupid to realize a common set of rules are what set humans apart from animals.

Actually i have been thinking about a 2 foot LED light bar in my rear window, to return the favor of the car behind blinding me with its lights.

No demands to high beam light beam profile, but regular driving light are asymmetrical and must light up 30 M ahead and not blind.
High beam are 100 M at least, and nothing else.

Extra high beam are allowed ( 2 of them ) but can not be installed higher on the front than the original high beams, and then the law say extra high beams can not be on at the same time as original high beams, but this rule don’t seem to be polices not even by the biannual mandatory vehicle inspections.

Off-course you are not allowed to blind people with your high beams, you have to turn those off with oncoming traffic, funny enough bicyclists and moped riders are not factored in, but i always “downbeam” for those as i am such a nice guy.

I saw this car on the MCD parking lot not long ago.

I recommend hanging a retroreflector in your rear window. That will send any idiot’s high beams directly back at him.
On the string (hung from the roof attachment point for child seats in my Subaru) the reflector spins, adding to its noticeability.
And yet it’s so small it doesn’t interfere with my view out the back window.

The European standard for retroreflectors is worth looking for, you’ll get a much brighter reflection than the ones from China.
Explanation here: https://www.pedestrianreflectors.com/all-about-reflectors/

I buy them from this Canadian site, which sells reflectors that meet the EU safety/visibility standard.

They have a good explanation and photos showing how the retroreflectors work to throw headlights back toward the source.

Haha i remember those, was almost trending here in the mid 70ties, every one had at least one hanging from some pice of clothe.
You don’t see many here wear a reflecting badge nowadays ( refleksbrik as they are called in Danish )

A few people jogging here also use reflecting armbands ASO, and that’s a good idea as many are also dressed in black spandex outfits, i almost ran over one of those guys a year ago on a dark winter morning.

And i don’t get them running around in downtown, doing that it is more healthy to stay home and smoke some ciggys due to diesel particle pollution in the towns.

Most rules about having stuff in the car window relate to the front window where next to nothing are allowed ( also not policed )
I have no idea what we have of rules regarding the rear window, but i am almost sure reflecting things other than the cars own reflectors build in to the rear lights are not allowed.

We have a lot of ambiguity build into our traffic code, phrases like “mutual consideration” are use a lot when law makers have given up making exact rules.
