Some insight into how things are manufactured in China

So, for a while now, I’ve been watching this YT channel produced by two western expats in China. I find the cultural differences fascinating. The channel is touted as a “talk show on two wheels” and the videos cover all sorts of China specific topics.

Sometimes they do a video that sort of highlights some issue that we run into as budget light users. Topics like the Chinese New Year, intellectual property, or even the nature of business.

While not flashlight specific, this most recent one was mostly on manufacturing and I thought some of y’all might find it interesting. Among other things, I think it helps explain why some lights are good and others are duds.

Anyway…

FYI, this channel is co-produced by the two guys, but they each have their own standalone channels which are also quite interesting if you have time.

These guys are atrocious bike riders! Over here in the States somebody in a 4x4 would intentionally put em in a wall…

I totally get where they’re coming from in the conversation, just deplore their riding habits.

I have long been a fan of SerpentZA’s videos.
His videos as ADVchina are quite interesting too

While not related to electronics, I recently watched SerpentZA’s video on “gutter oil”
and if you’ve never heard of it, well, you should watch it too. You will never think of fried food the same way again.

What’s that saying? When in Rome… :person_facepalming:

As a life long motorcyclist myself, I completely understand where you are coming from. That said, my understanding after watching almost all of these videos is that that is just the way things are done in China and everyone- on a bike or not- just drives like an arse. For motorcyclists in China, the rule seems to be “Do whatever it takes to get to the front and then ride wide.”

The lads kind of lay out their cycling philosophy in this video. Like I mentioned in the OP, they give a very unique insight into that country that most of us are quite unaware of.

Ya, it is so different over there that pretty much any topic is completely engrossing if you the least bit curious about other cultures. Well worth checking out their channels.
