Review of the TEEKLAND 5W XML T6 + COB 850LM (Lantern + flashlight)

TEEKLAND

Declaration & Thanks:
This light was provided by Tmart for the purpose of this review

Conclusion Summary:
A budget offering that makes for a better than average lantern in a combi package.

Info about my reviews and testing:
I like to keep my reviews fairly informal and not overly technical. There are plenty of talented people with fancy measuring devices to offer more technical detail. What I want to do is give an honest appraisal of owning and using this torch, and what a regular punter will make of it.

What’s in the box?
Just the flashlight.

Exterior Design & Ergonomics:
This is a nice budget, light. Fit and finish is pretty good overall and it’s a nice anodised colour. Threads aren’t as smooth as the best out there, but it seems perfectly fit for purpose.

The tailcap magnet is very good and will happily support the weight of the light. The rotary mechanism on the zooming head is also easy to use and effective.

I’ve found you need to use a fairly slim 18650 in this light. I’ve been using Samsung 25R’s in it. But something like a Samsung 30Q is too fat to fit in the battery tube.

Beam:
See the YouTube video for more on the light.

The main flashlight part of the torch uses what looks like a last Gen XM-L emitter. It’s not the highest output I’ve seen from such a light and the tint is more what you’d expect from a budget light too, a little too blue for my tastes personally. You can zoom the light for more throw.

But where this light really shines is the COB LED in the handle, which you use as a lantern. Tint on this is actually quite good as is the output. It’s a nice floody light too, but has reasonable beam distance for such an LED.

I can detect no noticeable PWM on any modes or LEDs.

Flood main LED

High mode throw

Low mode throw

The orange ring on the body will glow if you don’t extend the handle when using the COB

Very nice floody light from the COB

Closing the handle slightly over the COB effectively allows you to lower the light being emitted, without the need of a separate mode.

Thanks CD.
