18650 holster/clip for car?

I want to attached a clip / holster to afix a 18650 light to the outside of my center console. Going for easy access and a clean organized look. Any ideas? Debating if I should add a knife/leatherman and tire gauge into the mix as well. But I definitely want a flashlight clip / holster. I’m tired of digging through the console / glove box for it.

I sewn Velcro to the holster and then used the sticky back Velcro attached to the lid of my center console in my truck. Open the lid with my right hand and yank the strap pull the light out with the left. It’s up and out of the way, and not rattling around.

Rather than a holster with a flap, would something like this in leather or rigid be better?

Yeah for an area like that, I’m thinking that you could just use velcro on a holster and snap it right in there. If the velcro has adhesive, you don’t even need to sew it onto the holster necessarily (depending on how rough you are on it or how frequently you need to remove it).

Another option that would require more work would be to create something using magnets to hold the light/leatherman/etc. You’d just need to figure out a way to mount the magnets cleanly.

Hmmm… Adhesive Velcro…
A battle between the adhesive and the Velcro, often the Velcro wins…

This has always been my experience.

I think magnets are the sleek solution here.

Really I would take out the part of the dash where you want to mount it, glue magnets to the back of the panel, then replace it and have a totally non visible mounting solution.

Been using the Industrial sticky back Velcro on our CNC’s Safety and Instructional Placards for years, it’s great stuff! The smoother the surface the better it sticks! We used to Rivet them on, but things change so often we had to come up with a way that wouldn’t leave the machines guarding panels full of holes!!!

I might go with this, now to find a flashlight that fits it. All my lights are slimlines.

Instead of Velcro I might fasten a strap of heavy duty leather and used it like a molle attachment for belt holsters. Hopefully they don’t flop around too much as I like things fixed in place pretty well.

I have been looking into these items

Pole Clamp

And this
Quick Fist

Maglite was offering clamps as well but I can’t seem to find them.

I admit I haven’t purchased either one but I am favoring the quick fist.

Pole clip link doesn’t seem to work. Is this it?

My wife has several of these. FULL VERSION. It's in my purse. - YouTube

fwiw, a magnet won’t hold an 18650 light.

I took my 18650 Mecarmy PT18 out to my Subaru, and it happens to fit tucked between the seat and console, no magnet, no clip, no mods. Have not tried driving around to see if it flies out when I stop :-).

Storing LiIon in a hot car is not ideal, but people do it anyway, so, no judgement…

You could get a soft sunglasses case to pad between the seat and console, so the light does not chew anything up.
you could also set the soft sunglass case vertically between the seat and console, and just drop the light into that pocket.

I’m probably going to make my own setup with Boltoron which is a tougher version of Kydex.

Thank you for all the responses everyone. This has been extremely helpful.

Also, I ordered the bianchi holster as well as the command grippers. I have no doubt I’ll put them to good use.
