Mikoze 26650 Zoomer

This light was mentioned by someone a month or two ago and I can’t find the mention. Anyhow, I decided to take a chance and see what this light was like.

It came with a so-called 26650 cell. It is a crappy cell, quite deserving of the brown wrapper. I mentioned the cell over here.

I have not torn into the light yet. First impression is that the machining and anodizing is good, no glaring faults. The threads are the to be expected triangle shape and are not anodized. The threads and o-rings were lubed. The bezel and lens came apart okay, no glue used. The bezel unscrews off the front, there is a body tube that unscrews from the head and there is a tailcap that unscrews. Side switch only. The sliding zoom head fits quite well and operates in-out smoothly. There is some lube that may help the smoothness and may help hide any looseness. We’ll see after I take it apart. The driver board is retained with a threaded aluminum ring as is the mcpcb at the front end.

At first I thought it was a single mode, on-off only light. I can’t read the Chinese user guide that came with it. However, I discovered it ramps. If the side switch button is held down the light turns on in high and then ramps down. Once at the lowest setting it blinks twice. If the switch button is kept held down the light will then ramp up to high and blink twice again. That will continue repeatedly as long as the switch is held down. If turned off the light comes back on in high. A quick double click goes to strobe mode.

Later today I’ll take a high and a low lumens measurement and post that for the curious. I’ll also take some close up photos of the light parts.

FYI, I bought it here. . At the time the price was 59 yuan (US$8.50 plus shipping for a total of US$17.

It’s obvious the threads are cut after anodizing as the peak of the thread still shows a narrow band of black.

I think the led is a fake xm-l2

On high after 30 seconds I was getting 470 lumens. I had a peak reading of about 880 and then it fell. On low I was getting 90 lumens. The ramping is smooth. The high level is conservative / low but it also does not get hot

The retaining rings loosen without much difficulty. Taking it apart will be another day.
The lens seems to be a press fit in the bezel.

The light itself looks pretty decent. Thanks!

I bought this light from Fasttech with UltraFire Branding for about 10 Dollars and it is very good to mod with copper rod press fit into the pill.
