Test/review of UltraFire BRC26650 7800mAh (Red)

UltraFire BRC26650 7800mAh (Red)

Official specifications:

  • Model: 26650

  • Type: Rechargeable Li-lithium battery

  • Capacity: 7800mAh

  • Voltage: 3.7V

  • Max Continuous Discharge: 8A

  • Max Peak Discharge: 4A  Something is wrong with Peak/Continuous rating

  • Size: about 66*25*25mm

  • Color: Purple

Cheap super high capacity 26650, it is barely necessary to test to give a correct conclusion.

The two cells I tested have different capacity, the best can reach 2300mAh at 0.2A. They can barely deliver 7A.

Even at maximum load the temperature is not that bad.

Conclusion

Different capacity for the two cells, below 1/3 the rated capacity, problems delivering rated current, it is bad cells.

Batteries with ridiculous ratings

Ultrafire is a joke. Uninformed consumers are the butt of those jokes.

“You can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time,
but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.”
Seems that the XXX-Fire companies are focussed on doing the first.
There is always a fresh group of customers that thinks those wrappers tell the truth.

HKJ thanks for proving your idea was right, though is does not always make you happy.

I am always happy to show the world my findings.

 :+1:

Yay, they started making explosives in bigger sizes!

On the other hand, just noticed the battery is claimed as “protected” on the wrapper.

Random low cost cell + random flashy wrapper = finished product.

That is the standard wrapper for ultrafire cells (Protected or not). I do address it in the article linked at the bottom.

There is also the detail that it is the (non existing) PCB that will last 10 years, not the battery.

This must be premium batch, mine topped at 600mAh.
