This should also work if you would prefer a smaller more compact adapter:

Thank you Thumbs Up Because it sells to Japan, I will consider it.

I think that the chargers are capable for either 110V or 230V.We in Europe, have received a EU adaptor,so as,putting it on the US tips, it can adapt to European outlets.

Is it possible to open it,so as to drill holes through plastic? It could have better cooling I think, putting a small fan by it.

What is the tip size of this charger adapter? They are not universal I think!

The tip size for the laptop adapter that I used and the charging plug fit perfectly was Outside Diameter = 5.5mm and Inside Diameter = 2.5mm. I assume this is the tip size needed for the DX80.

I got mine today and the first thing I did was checkout the power supply adapter.

Open circuit voltage is 19.5V.

I have a whole box of power supplies, I save every one I come across, ‘cause you never know what might come in handy.
Other than the supplies to laptops that I have, the only one that was compatible plug wise and voltage wise was this Fujitsu.

19V at 4.22A would make a nice replacement. I probably scrounged it at the recycle bin at Best Buy. No doubt if anyone were to
try, they could find another that would work.
This is the only extra I had and I am reluctant to cut the cord. I need a cord to measure how many amps a DX80 will pull when charging. I would like to know if the power supply they ship is being over worked, or it is just of poor quality.
If I can find a second compatible supply at Best Buy, I will cut its cord and do the test.

Either overworked or of poor quality,it becomes hot when it is working.

I have had the light charging now for about 2 1/2 hours and the supply is not even warm
The indicator lights are blinking some sort of code but I can’t decipher the meaning.

Portapow has a handy meter for dc inline measurements. Comes with USB and DC (5.5×2.1mm) plug adapters.

My guess it’s either done charging or not charging at all. The adapter should at least get warm when under load. The load gets very light right as it approaches 16.8v

What is the battery voltage?

That indicator looks pretty messed up. Not making sense.

I think it’s Morse code for “kill me”. It says it over and over.

Big Smile

or it could be showing the status of the individual cells in the pack and one is empty/bad. But since you can’t change the individual cells, what’s the point…

Which adapter are you using when charging during the You Tube video, the one that came with the DX80 or the compatible one you picked up at Best Buy? If you are using the one that came with the light my guess is the odd charging indicator is due to the adapter not working properly. If you try using the Best Buy compatible charger I’m willing to bet if the light is not fully charged yet, the remaining charge will show a normal light charging pattern. If you are already using the Best Buy charger for the You Tube video, then it looks like there might be some sort of abnormality in the light itself, showing an abnormal pattern in the charging indicator LEDs.

Take the battery tube off and check and make sure you removed the clear “tiddly-wink” from the recess in the driver. When you screw it back in for charge some blue lights at the switch will light up. The adapter will get warm but charges well. You will see the regular battery display moving up 3.4.5 then start over. When charged the display shuts off.

I am soooo glad I figured this out on my own Party
It’s charging now, and yes the power supply is hot.

I feel like a fool for this happening to me, I KNOW better!
But with the problems with the power supplies and the problems with unscrewing the battery while it was on, I made up my mind I was NOT going to mess with this one.
At all.

When I first unboxed it, it wouldn’t turn on. That should have been the clue, BUT
I recently got some Makita Li-ion drills that came with the battery packs installed on the tool. Usually they are packaged separately. The batteries have battery gauges built in and coming out of the box they read dead. Manufacturers always ship new batteries at about 3.6V per cell. When I put them in the charger, they instantly “woke up”
I had that in my mind when I first unboxed this light. The battery pack was shipped half full but in a “Coma” until it first hits a charger.

I was wrong
Tiddly Winks!

I suspect all will be fine now, have to wait 3 hours, 10 minutes to fully charge up

^^^ Well that’s good news… But what on earth is the display saying then? Nothing in the manual about it?

There is nothing in the sheet of paper you get with it about any of this.
The display is now as leroycp described.

Because I’m special, and it could never happen to me………….. Innocent

I cut the cord of the original charger that blew and used it to check the current draw while charging.
1.91A.
That means the supplied charger is too weak.
I would think at a 4A charger is needed. The Fujitsu laptop charger I’m using now is rated at 4.22A.

I will let Banggood or Imalent know about the charger, but I don’t expect a replacement. That’s why I went ahead and cut the cord.
I know I can get all the laptop power supplies I want in the recycle bin.

Okay, so now we know what it does when the charger is plugged in with no batteries, or no battery contact.

It seems that it can not be disassembled. The initial 5 minutes of charging was slightly warmer.I do not feel the need for cooling.
But although this is already broken Big Smile

The second one arrived today, but it has been broken since the beginning Angry

As for the charging indicator,I think that it is OK.It reminds me the Sony SBH50 Bluetooth which I have, which when in charging condition has a indicator with the same movements. It shows the current situation and the maximum where it will go, when the charging is finished.
Edit.
As for the light,my jaws are still open.WOW.

Congratulations on winning the IMALENT lottery. I am losing twice Party
In the story of gearbest I heard before, IMALENT seems not to be very cooperative with sellers.
I am relieved in this case like a problem only with the AC adapter. (The dchomak video was horror Big Smile )

There was a reply of DX80 from BG.
They asked if the problem is only with the AC adapter or whether the AC adapter has failed due to a problem with the main unit. I think that the matter of my9221 has also heard the same thing.

1. Does the mode button on the unit function?
2. Can you charge with another AC adapter?
