Haikelite MT02 UI doesn't match advertised

Just received my Haikelite MT02 in the mail today, popped some batteries in to try it out and the UI doesn’t match the instructions or advertising, has anyone else had this?

Most info online state 4 modes, Low Low > Low > Med > High with high being 2500 lumens.

Mine has 4 modes on the normal cycle plus a Turbo mode when double clicked so 5 in total. The manual refers to all of these modes in the part that describes how to change mode, long press to cycle between the 4 above and double click for turbo. But below that where it tells you how bright each mode is it only has 4 of them, and says “Double Click - High - 2500 lumens”. It also states here that medium is 850 lumens but elsewhere on the page where it warns about not running on turbo for too long it says “The 500 lumen medium mode is bright enough for daily use”, but there is no 500 lumen mode described?

So is turbo higher then 2500, or have all the modes been changed? I;m guessing Haikelite changed the UI at the last moment to add an extra mode but didn’t update the manual properly or any of the advertising. Still a good torch though, will try out properly later but first impression is that its well built and a really nice size

USPS indicates mine will be delivered tomorrow, I’ll try to figure it out. There is a Haikelite rep on the forum. Why not ask in his threads or PM him?

This is confirmed by Haikelite, post #46: NOW SHIPPING: Haikelite MT02 interest list

Thanks Hikarinoob, I didn’t see that although it doesn’t quite explain the extra mode - they are saying the turbo mode changed to a double click, and the instructions do say this for the high mode in the list of lumen outputs, but it only lists 4 different levels with their lumens.

Low Low - 50 Lumens - 75 Hours
Low - 250 Lumens - 15 hours
Middle - 850 Lumens - 5 hours
Double Click - High - 2500 lumens - 105 minutes

On the other side of the instructions it says

Mode circles - Low Low > Low > Medium > High
Double click in any mode to access turbo mode

That thread ends with L4M4 pointing it out it has 5 modes and asking Haikelite to list them but then saying he found a sheet of paper with the modes correctly printed, but I don’t have this so I’ll ask if he can share the info

I’ve sent Haikelite a PM asking them to comment here, just figured I’d make it public so if they respond with the new mode spacing other people can find it easily.

Basically it was a last minute change, so everyone is stressed out and mistakes are made with the manual… The real figures will probably be published soon, either via Haikelite or a review.
I’m contemplating this light as well. The silver version is just stunning. And the price is just really good…

this is foto of the manual that came with my MT02.

Thats the same manual that came with mine and you can see it refers to a 500 lumen medium mode, but the other side of mine states :

Low Low – 50 Lumens – 75 Hours
Low – 250 Lumens – 15 hours
Middle – 850 Lumens – 5 hours
Double Click – High – 2500 lumens – 105 minutes

It sounds on the other thread like L4M4 got an extra piece of paper with the updated 5 modes. I’m wanting to know the runtimes more than brightness, if middle is around 500 lumens then this gives a good run time

Some observations now that I’ve had more chance to play with it:

- Having to go through strobe to access the battery level is annoying. Double click from off does nothing so they could have made it double click to strobe and long hold for battery level which would have made more sense

- The head on its own is extremely lightweight, I don’t have scales but I’d say its less then half the weight of the MT03s head.

- The tailcap unscrews but you can’t remove the batteries this way, the springs are screwed into the body on a PCB and taking off the tail cap allows you to remove those screws.

-Mine is purchased through banggood and is missing the serial number and markings shown on the tailcaps in the product page.

yes mine got the same page on the other side.

Well, I pm’ed Haikelite a few days ago and no response, although they’ve logged in a few times since then and posted. The descriptions on all the websites including their own are still wrong, seems odd to not update it given its a fairly major change to the product but only needs a small change to the website

Ok so Haikelite replied saying “ok” and I see the website has now been updated:

Low Low 50lumens 75 hrs
Low 250 Lumens 15 hrs
Middle 500 Lumens 5 hrs
High 1000 Lumens 105 minutes
Double click Turbo –2500 Lumens

So while we now have the correct modes I’m hoping the runtimes are not correct or else this is a very inefficient light. Previously Turbo had a claimed 105 minute runtime, now they say 1000 lumens has the 105 minute run time which is short for 3 batteries. I’m thinking this is meant to be the turbo run time still and the 5 hours is for the previous 850 lumen mode, meaning the new high mode should get around 3-4 hours and 500 lumen mode should get more then 5 hours?

Reality wins over what is written
Soo… What runtimes do you actually get? If better then written, win, we have entered a new age where the specs are underrated, big yay IMHO

Well to be honest I only bought my first light a few months ago, got hooked, now I have some of the most powerful handheld lights available (and lots of interesting small ones), but the longest I’ve run one for would be maybe 2-3 minutes

I dont know about you guys but most of my lights are rarely used i never even know how long the runtimes are in reality
The one i used most is Nitecore Tip which is attached to my car key.
