Holy Off-Center Emitters Batman! Imalent DT35 Content Inside.

Just received my Imalent DT35 with a recent coupon code and figured it would be worth it at the reduced price, even though a TLF member measured the light at 3500 lumens under the advertised spec of 8500 lumens. That’s a 41% reduction in what is advertised. Yikes!

I’m going to assume the throw won’t be close to matching their advertised 1000m as well.

But, the kicker is just about every single emitter in the light is off-center. Does anyone else have this issue with Imalent lights. I took a flyer on it and now regret even giving it a chance when I could have paid a touch more during Thrunite’s recent sale for the tried and true TN42. Ugh.

Anyhow here is an image…thoughts?

It looks like the leds are ok, just the reflector turned when the light was assembled. Same thing with the Q8.

Ahh…I’m somewhat of a newbie. Is this an easy fix? thank you.

I don’t have this but have the DT70, and on mine the top ring that holds the lens in (can’t remember name) is glued in and impossible to undo by hand. It might be possible with either tools or heating it to soften the glue or something, but I don’t think its easy. Yours is probably the same but ff you can get it undone it should just be a matter of turning the reflector counter-clockwise slightly to center all the leds and then doing the ring back up carefully. If you have trouble tightening it and keeping the reflector center you might need to put a small bit of glue or something to stop the reflector twisting. I’m quite new to this though so someone else might have some better ideas

yeah posted this on the other topic

the emitters are all radial shifted

so if you rotate the reflectore a tiny bit anti clockwise they are perfectly centered

must have happened as there are no proper gaskets when screwing the bezel

thanks for all the help guys…took me about 5 tries to get it right but it’s pretty centered now. still reeling with the fact that it’s really a 5000 lumen light but hopefully it will be a good camping light. cheers!
