Got the Thrunite TN 35 Disappointed and returned questions

I’ve been reading your forum for a week trying to decide what to buy. Took me several tries to set up an account, because I never got the temporary emails. Changed to a gmail address and it went through. No way to contact admin lol.

I bought the TN35 through Thrunite Direct on Amazon, because of the warranty and quality I read in reviews. I like a wide flood beam, but also want distance. I liked this light for lighting up the area, but wish it had a tighter center beam at a distance. The runners up were a TK75 or an Acebeam K40M.

because this flashlight has been discontinued for awhile, I’m concerned that the only ones still available are 2nds or returns and I’m hoping you guys can help me decide.

The light came with scratches or light gouges in the tube in several areas where the anodized paint was damaged. Not a big deal to me as long as it doesnt short out…… The lanyard wasnt the right one for the light. Wimpy one for a AA light. Even the video review on Amazon shows the small wrong lanyard.

the outer bezel was not a tight fit. I could stick my finger nail in the areas that were not tight. I was afraid if I dropped it something would break.

The light itself appeared to be good quality, but after buying cheap chinese lights for the past few years and having them crap out with no support, i wanted to buy from a reliable company, which I believe Thrunite is.

sent it back today and want to try to purchase again, but dont want to keep returning it for quality issues. Do you guys think all thats left are inferior ones, or should I try again?

I have been vaping for about 8 yrs and like the 18650 form factor, am very careful with how i use them as Ive had them deal with a shorted atomizer before in mechanical mods and know how quickly things can go bad…… have a good NiteCore digital charger, have Pan NCR protected batteries on their way from imrbatteries.com. 3x 18650s are not that heavy and the light feels well balanced in my hand.

Having read that there are QC problems with TN, should i try again?

ty so much for your input and advice

I suggest purchasing from Illumn or thrunite direct.

Are you sure it’s been discontinued?

Why not return it and get an Acebeam K60 instead?

gyes ozy i purjhased from thrunite direct on amazon.

thank you alex. i’ll watch some reviews and also check out the price.

He said he bought it through Thrunite Direct

I wonder if you didn’t get “co-mingled”. Assuming Amazon fulfillment and not seller-direct shipping, Amazon tends to co-mingle most of its warehouses. You may have bought from Thrunite Direct’s Amazon merchant store, but when that order went to the warehouse to be pulled for shipping, the Amazon inventory system will spit out the location of the nearest matching SKU in the warehouse, whether Thrunite themselves actually sent it in or some other random business who may be dealing in seconds or defectives or even counterfeits (not that I’ve ever seen a counterfeit Thrunite). That’s a real problem for Amazon shopping. If it comes from Amazon’s warehouse it really doesn’t matter who you “bought” it from, its a crap-shoot, because to Amazon the efficiency of their packing and shipping operation is paramount to maintaining separate inventory for every seller in their marketplace.

i totally agree. Amazon has gotten terrible with bogus descriptions, erroneous pricing ($2000. from some merchants for a $10 item, and warehouse fulfillment sends many of our orders back. Thats why i made sure I bought it from Thrunight direct. We have some expensive Sennheisser Headphones, that i got a square ptrade wtty for, because many companies wont honor their warranties if sold by an unauthorized seller. We do have Prime though and use Amazon for its excellent return policy. Not many shopping choices in our town.

i believe it was amazons fault. Looking at the price point for the TN35 i went ahead and ordered it again. i really like the feel of it in my 60+ ole lady hands. Anything smaller i tend to drop it.

Ive learned so much from your forum. i have a cheapo Oxyled M02 flashlight that will light on the charger, but not on battery. I really liked the balance and 200 lumen on that one for household repair. if i could figure out how to get it apart, i would love to see how it works. even the simplest engineering fascinates me.

I had to look up what dedoming was after seeing pics of your modded lights. I would be afraid of trashing a light to do that, but i may look into getting someone to do that for me down the road. i am a total sucker for beam shot threads btw.

i can see why you all have many flashlights. one size just doesnt fit all.

ty for your forum and help

Have you send an email to Thrunite?
Besides the points you make about ano and fitting of bezel, do you like it? The beam, tint, UI, ypu know those things you notice in the dark when you use it.

Idk where you live but this is a MTG3 light right?
I am happy to trade something for it if shipping is not killing it and my premise it being MTG2 is right.

Emarkd is correct regarding comingling, its a huge issue, which is why you see many sellers selling “Olight S1 with free keycchain” or TN35 with free cr123 battery”. they include a trinket at no charge to have it listed and processed as a separate SKU and avoid co-mingling.

I purchased mine from illumn and was super happy with it. highly recommend, great vendor.

yes i saw illumn, imrbatteries and mtn electronics on here and subscribed to newsletters and purchased. its good to know of good vendors. ihave called and emailed amazon many x about their vendor ads. they have just gotten too big a retailer to police their site and it is going to hurt them in the long run.

Don’t know if your in the states but if you are I could put you a light together with a dedomed emitter. You’d probably like a c8 with a xpl hi or xpl dedomed, xml2 dedomed, or xpg2 dedomed. Putting a light together isn’t to hard most of the time. It can take hours to focus properly for the best results.

its an MTG2 chip. i will receive the replacement tomorrow. yes i like the build quality very much. i wanted a floody beam for the walking dogs at night and this will be great for that. for an all pupose light in the house we will probably stick to my husbands surefire led.

the tint is very nice! i usually prefer a cooler light for lightbulbs in the house, but this is excellent for outdoors. gives a nice natural light beam.

yes i emailed thrunite. they said they are new. amazons warehouse must have opened the box im sure or it was a return. hope the next one is good. have my ncrs all charged up waiting for it

thank you very much. how sweet! i have been looking at all the parts on mtn electronics and its so cool that you guys know how to do that. i wish i did.

for now ill use this light, but i know i will want another all purpose one. if anyone wants to play with my Oxyled M02, i can send it to you. it was a very good light until it stoped working with batteries. it does work plugged in to its built in charger though. i have the original box to ship it in…

sorry i had that wrong. Its an Oxyled MD01. here is the link https://www.amazon.com/OxyLED-Rechargeable-Flashlight-Water-Resistant-Battery/dp/B01HGEMOBK

great balance and good beam. takes 2 18650’s and has built in recharging. i used my nightcore charger, mainly because i would forget it had a charger.

Thrunite’s quality is usually great but I have heard stories similar to yours about people receiving lights that look refurbished. I’ve owned a TN35 and can tell you that it’s a great light. However, it severely lacks in the output arena compared to other lights that are available for the same price and cheaper. Convoy L6, Haikelite MT07 (my personal favorite), Noctigon Meteor, ThorFire S70…

I’ve been thinking about the TN35 and Solarforce S2200 (also MT-G2), whether the lower output compared to single XHP70 lights is perhaps compensated with the nice tint… S2200 is $70,- these days by the way.
