The number of BLF projects coming to fruition….
The instantly popular Emisar lights….
Together with the evolution of personal preferences involving temperature, tint, and CRI….
….homeless and displaced emitters, some unloved and underappreciated, need new lives.

Why not shuffle them around?

Even if some are not 100% perfect due to flux splatters, thermal paste smears, or whatever……they may be of use to others.
The proposal is to offer superfluous emitters and unwanted stock, free of charge (including shipping), with hopes the recipient might have something to pass forward.

As The Miller remarked about new members joining BLF primarily to get in on group buys,
“You never know who will be the next Old Lumens.”
His legacy of generosity and sharing inspired this proposal, may it lead to a chain reaction.
Clearly there are many members with excess emitters they might never use.
The proposal is open ended, and democratic like BLF.
Subsequent posters may wish to qualify their offerings, or want to trade.

I currently have (including on order) more HiCri Nichias than needed for the near future.
My Bakers’ Dozen of unused CREE ‘pulls’ feel rejected, and threatened by the beauty of Nichia HiCri 219B, and ‘low’ color temperature 219Cs.
A year ago they felt more special.
I prefer Cree leds for some types of flashlights, where they can be more effective.
When it comes time to make decisions about my EDC Leds……’The Eyes have the Vote’.

Maybe we should make this like a traveling junk drawer.

What I’m suggesting is the “winner” picks though what they will use (in say 30 days) and then adds their excess to the kitty.

Then it is re offered. thus hopefully more projects get built plus the junk drawer gets larger (aka more useful).

I’m In for making a traveling Flashlight modding junk drawer.

I have “working” 2 Soraa high CRI mr16 gu5.3 lights that I can add plus “other stuff” plus most of the above noted cree LEDs will stay in the the traveling drawer for the next soul.

Let me know if this offer is what you had in mind?

I have a bunch of emitters and parts, i was also thinking of selling some lights, perhaps i should combine them, buy a light get dibs on modding supplies.

I like the traveler idea, I would like to jump in on this one! I have extra parts, drivers, leds, tailcap parts and such!

Might I suggest, if this happens, a pick with the box at a local site that offers a good pic? Maybe not tell folks what is in the box when you send it on, keep the suspense in play? Maybe limit this to US locations at first, international shipping get expensive! Last package to UK was $22 and that was the cheap slow option.

So, maybe a Eurozone and US box? Then once a year the box flips sides of the world?

13 leds dispatched to Ronin42 in a folded manila envelope this morning,
well protected inside cut-out slots in a small piece of foam.
