OVERVIEW

This thread features a knife sale and a giveaway.

The deadline to place an order is every Thursday, at 11:59pm PST.

If you have any comments or questions, post them in this thread or send me a Private Message.

I'll go over the giveaway first.

CASH GIVEAWAY

I'm giving away seven U.S. dollars.

Anyone in the Universe with a PayPal account can enter.

Watch the following Youtube video, then answer some simple questions on the specified days.

Each question can be replied to once per person.

The video is "The Bridge of Death" scene from the 1975 cult classic, Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

I chose this particular video because it has subtitles.

If this video does not play in your country, please choose a suitable video from this link:

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=the+bridge+of+death+monty+python

From 8-17-2017 to 8-21-2017, you may answer Question 1:

What is your name?

From 8-22-2017 to 8-26-2017, you may answer Question 2:

What is your quest?

From 8-27-2017 to 8-31-2017, you may answer Question 3:

What is your favourite colour?

When answering the questions, feel free to have some fun.

Sometime shortly after 8-31-2017, I will use random.org to choose a winner.

The winner will have one week to supply a PayPal address to receive their winnings.

Otherwise, I'll randomly choose a different winner, and they'll have one week, and so on.

KNIFE SALE

I will only sell to those with a United States shipping address.

You must be at least 18 years old to purchase anything from me.

   >$99 | FREE
        |
$90-$99 | $1
        |
$80-$89 | $2
        |
$70-$79 | $3
        |
$60-$69 | $4
        |
$50-$59 | $5

Most items come with the original box/packaging.

All items are located in Palm Desert, CA 92260.

The only payment method I accept is PayPal.

Right click on any photo in this thread and choose "open image in new tab" to see a larger version of the photo.

All items come with free dust and fingerprints.  ;)

I have 31 different knives for sale.

About half of them are Kershaw assisted-openers.

There are also several Sanrenmu, several Enlan, a couple Ganzo, and some other brands of knives.

They are listed alphabetically in different categories like MANUAL OPENERS and ASSISTED-OPENERS.

When you are ready to place an order, send me a Private Message.

In the PM, include your 5-digit ZIP Code, along with each item you are bidding on.

I need your ZIP Code to estimate what shipping will cost me.

Make sure your order is $100 $50 or larger.

The deadline to place an order is 8-31-2017 every Thursday, at 11:59pm PST.

Sometime shortly after 8-31-2017 the deadline, I will start contacting those that make the most appealing orders.

I am mostly looking for large orders, though there are other factors involved in choosing buyers.

I put $6-7 worth of parts and maybe an hour or two worth of work for a fantastic little AA light.

TIR + xpg2 + copper pipe cap + boost driver = great little throw around light."

Yes, I've been thinking about selling stuff on BLF for a long time.

If I can sell some knives, I might try to sell a bunch of flashlights.

Lol, I don’t suspect too many people will get the joke. If they look it up it will likely be another case of “mapache, you’re not as funny as you think you are” Sick

Well, I thought it was funny, after I had to look up "Procyonids."

It has a Dad Joke vibe.  :-)

Welcome to the giveaway!

As it turns out, this giveaway is a marketing tool that I'm using to increase exposure for the knife sale.

(Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

^ I’m not sure the marketing is working so well ATM. I find it hard to believe how little interest this thread has generated. I remember playing “I WANT IT” in a couple of threads last year where members were trolling to enter giveaways for days after they had ended.

Haha, I’m pretty sure dad joke vibe is pretty dang close to not as funny as you think you are Big Smile

Maybe asking BLF members to answer three questions for a chance at seven dollars is asking for too much?

Or maybe there aren't enough Monty Python fans on BLF?

I don't know, but you're right.

My marketing idea isn't working as well as I thought it would.

I'm not a father, but I tell dad jokes all the time in real life.

They're kinda corny, but they make me laugh, so... mission accomplished.  ;)

For what it’s worth I generally no longer enter a giveaway held by a private member (until I can afford to host one of my own) but thought this was such a fun idea that I had to take part.

I think the title is a bit too busy, when I first skimmed it I thought this was a US only knife giveaway/sale and only checked it to have a look at some of your collection. Maybe ditch the emoji and make the first word giveaway? However the vibe around here has changed a bit while I was on hiatus. It seems that the popularity of giveaways has declined and there is something else but I can’t put my finger on it at the moment.

Today (8-21-2017) is the last day to answer Question 1.

I changed the title a little to make it easier to understand.

I got rid of the hazardous emoji, but kept the happy emoji.  :-)

Question 2 of 5 Silly

I seek to understand why this thread has so little interest.

I believe I am failing my quest, I thought a title modification might help, but nothing. Watching a 4 minute video must be too much effort, but it’s not like one has to watch the whole clip to get gist. Haha, maybe cast the giveaway portion of this tread into the Gorge of Peril since there is so little interest in buying or entering!

Perhaps post the items for sale on EDCforums?

I just signed up for EDCforums.

Looks like it costs money to sell there, and there are many more rules there than here for selling.

But I will look into it.

Well thanks for the promotional GAW Wink
I do like Monty Python but have not memorized any of it except that “where is the fish” for it is great fun to tease our son when he is looking for something Big Smile

I think it is the combination of sale and GAW that makes it a bit tricky on this nice and friendly place. Who would want to enter without buying a knife?
And well for me, I use knifes so am happy with Ganzo/Enlan/etc knifes I get for max $14. Buying a special rare one for more is not for me, I don’t have a shelf to display them Wink

I just had a look and it seems a lot has changed, I was last there as a regular lurker back in 2009!
