HR & Business Management

I have a new YouTube channel that will focus on HR and business management.

If it relates to you, please check it out and subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66Mv_rM1vw8

A topic with the title “.” gets views and replies and not ONE comment on my topic here, which actually offers useful content? C’mon!

You need to post a pic of that bunny with the pancake on its head. That should get you more traffic. Youtube is blocked for us at work, but I’ll be sure to check out your channel when I’m home tonight.

Maybe because self-advertising is looked down upon by most people………

Well, that and… the LAST time I got contacted by HR, I hadda go pee in a cup. The time before that was when I got laid off from IBM. Even when I got hired in my current job, I just had forms to fill out. Oh, and then there is the yearly email when they tell me that my insurance costs have gone up and the coverage has diminished. On the whole, the less involved I am with HR the happier I am.

Sorry man.

But my “self-advertising” is community-based here.

Quoted for truth. HR is the devil.

lol Somebody has got to make reasonable accommodations, hire and fire, know employment law, and on-board everybody, aye?

Uh, no, youtube channels make money for you, not others.

But my content offers value, which translates to marketability, and therefore skill, which equals money.

Maybe if you add the info on what the channel is about in the thread title, like [plug] HR and Business Management lessons”, more people will check it out. Still, all the same, give it time, this kind of interest grows gradually.

Done! And I was just thinking about that!

True enough, and I’m sure you are a nice guy. But you can’t really be surprised that HR is not exactly a great conversation starter.

When you are driving down the road how do you feel when a cop shows up? Unless they are going after that jerk who just cut you off, chances are you would rather they take the next exit and leave you in peace, rather than slowing traffic down and clogging things up.

Knock knock knock,
“Hi I’m from HR, can we talk for a few minutes?”
Ranks right up there with:
“Hi, I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”
Chances are it ain’t gonna end well for me.

lol, you are 100% right, my friend. Point taken.

How bad is it that I can lay claim to both those things in the same sentence….?

So long as we stick to talking about flashlights, all should be well!

HR story:
Two of my neighbors worked at Nortel, she in HR, he as a ?Sales guy maybe? Anyway they carpooled for a while, then Nortel starts laying people off left and right. So one day she has a pink folder on the center console when she picks him up, he sees it and is a little put off, but says nothing. They get to work and she sees another co-worker, calls out and goes to hand the folder over. Neighbor freeks out and says “don’t take the folder!” thinking it is termination paperwork. Turns out she is sharing coupons.

They decided that carpooling was probably no longer a good idea. She was actually one of the last non executive employees at Nortel (at this site), since they needed HR people around to handle all the terminations during the bankruptcy and court cases.

Rusty Ill bite.

First I’m glad your part of the BLF community. I’m also glad that you tried to help and were thinking out side the box.

I watched your 2min video.

In trying to be constructive: It might help to put your self in the seat of your target audience. (Who is your anticipated viewer and what action do you want them to take).

What I think you meant to say was “Hire the perceived best qualified candidate”. This might actually be difference from the actual best qualified candidate but that is the difference between subjective and objective “truths”.

So If I am right in my assumption I think you are right, but I don’t think the concept is not a good vehicle to hold oneself out as an expert.

If you post your channel in my topic about YouTube channels of Gets and their families (click my name, then my threads)
I’ll add it to the OP, like a video and subscribe as I did with all there.
I think it is cool to see different topics.

But I also think doing a YT thing for the subs is not the way to go. If you post things you enjoy making or sharing that is the reward. When people watch, even better, if people sub is like a cherry on the cake.
Look at my channel, just some Q8 stuff, so from BLF perspective very much on topic, about a highly anticipated light. Just checked my sub’s for the first time and it is at a whopping 14! (Sure am happy I didn’t do it for subs  )

Comparing leads to unhappiness.
There is always something or somebody xx-er (bigger, brighter, nicer, smarter, richer and so on) so one can only be oneself and better oneself maybe if one wants to improve something for oneself.
Even if one could win the rat race, one would still be a rat

Another day at the office.

“Heyyyy Joe… I said where you going… with that gun in your hand?”

What about promoting from within?
Developing a talent pipeline.
Sends a positive message to workforce!
Internal vs. external means less training, up to speed quicker, continuity & familiarity with the business culture.
