Hey i have a hc30 headlamp and was wanting to mod it for more throw. It has a fair amount of throw compared to my h03.I know a lot of people don’t want throw in a headlamp but i do for what i use it for
This I is a hard question. It’s hard to figure out with out someone’s direct help. I’ve been wanting more throw in my h03 but it’s hard trying to find something to fit and to know if it’s the beam pattern one is looking for.

Would fet driver help much. I know your not going to turn it into a c8 but i would like to try and get more throw. Maybe changing to a xpl-hi. I have a xpl- hi v3 3c here.I haven’t tried reflowing anything yet but i guess i gonna have to try sometime.
HC30 has 5050 footprint and you need for XPL 3535
Also the original MCPCB is pretty thin aluminum, you may need to sand down a DTP copper star, or the bezel would stick out a bit
You can take noctigon xp mcpcb and xpl hi or even dedomed xpe2.
You can not increase power in this flashlight, it is small. And also you will loose in efficiency.
I am going to use it for short bursts of wide open so efficiency and heat doesn’t really matter.
Replace the LED with a XPG2 and De-dome it. That should give a little more throw.
Or buy a thrower style headlamp i have one its a lot of fun. I have one similiar to this.

Suggestions to use a dedomed xpg2 are right on. This will get you the best throw. Xpg2 S4 2B. A 3amp driver is nice safe power choice. So the stock driver would be fine. You might get a few extra lumens with a resistor mod as I believe the hc30 uses a buck driver. As was mentioned earlier you will need to sand down the mcpcb if you choose to change the led.
Mate! Buying a new light for $6 dollars is much cheaper and easier then modding a HC30 to throw? I own 2 HC30s and they will never throw far no matter what you do. You may get 200m? When buying a new headlamp will that has the same size reflector as a Luckysun D80 is how cheap and will work better.
Yes but he doesn’t want a headlight that throws, he wants his hc30 to throw more.
I was giving him an idea he can either take it on board or not. Me saying it is not hurting any one? Just throwing the idea in the mix they want throw and this headlamp will give them throw.
I had never seen a headlamp like this till i bought it maybe they have never seen a headlamp with a big reflector.

It’s not about buying a new light . Ive got 2 headlamps a skilhunt h03 and an hc 30. I like the h03 for what it is. The hc30 has quite a bit more throw than the h03. I’m one of those people who likes to make something better. It’s never going to throw like a c8 i know than but it does throw better tha a lot of other headlamps.
I wonder if it is possible to get xhp50 and boost driver in it like and olight h2r but with the smooth reflector.
A boost driver will be taller so it won’t fit. the stockdriver is really flat and doesn’t have too many room in the drivr cavity.
However you can swap the stock driver for a 2&mm TA driver with Narsil ramping firmware. This is what I did and I love it !
