Looking for lamp with red led as well as white or a red diffuser

I have a number of good quality headlamps but none have a red light.
I have tried to find a red diffuser to put on my existing lamps with no luck.
Any suggestions as to a lamp (18650) or diffuser ?
I don”t want to attach red film to one of my existing lamps as I need to be able to use the white light as well.

I guess I’ve seen some lamps being reviewed here with those red leds, but I can’t remember the names, nor if they are 18650.
For the diffusers, you can take a look at these from Kaidomain

Hope it helps

Nitecore has some headlamps with red LEDs

Unfortunately those diffusers are all way to big diameter wise.
My Nitecore HC60 which is the headlamp I would liked to have used would need a push on diffuser with an id of 18.45mm.
I have just ordered a flip down diffuser for an old Fenix HP10 that I have which I am going to put some red film on it that I have & see how that works.
By being flip down it does give me the option of the white beam or diffused red light.
The down side is that the HP10 is a 4 x AA cell light not my preferred 18650 cell & is only 225 lumens on turbo & that steps down after 3 minutes.
The highest lumens you can maintain without step down is 140 & with the diffuser & red film I don”t know how bright this is going to be.
This light is for night lure fishing where the fish will be spooked by shining a white light on to the water but I still need to see what is going on when casting & retrieving the lures.

I have a Nitecore NU30, wich is nice with red led. Good u.i., low weight and rechargeable with micro usb. Fairly good runtime too, I like it.
But not 18650 and after about 5-6 weeks it needs a recharge due to parasitic drain. Still the best headlight I could find with red lights yet. Would still jump on a 18650 version without the drain issue.

The Nitecore HC50 has Red LED’s

  • 18650
  • 2 seperate Red LED’s(not just a diffuser) with direct access to RED light mode

What sort of distance would red light be usable at ?
I have always night fished with standard white light headlamps using either an Olight H35 Wave or Nitecore HC60.
I would be bottom fishing at 100 plus yards so no need to worry about the light spooking the fish.
With this lure fishing I am generally fishing on the surface at distances up to about 50 yards hence the white light would spook the fish.
So I want to be able to see my lure hit the water at say 50 yards & then be able to see it as I work it back to myself across the surface.
A red lens would, I imagine, be the answer as it would allow the lamp to retain it”s beam profile & just put out red light instead of white.
Unfortunately I can”t find any red lenses that will fit any of my lamps as they are all to big.
I think that any type of diffuser will just spread the beam & only allow me to see close up ?

EDIT:
Whilst on the Fenix UK site I noticed that they do a 40mm ID push on red lens which is to way to big for my HC60, RJ-02”s, Hp10 etc.
I then remembered that I have a few cheap Chinese no brand zoomie headlamps, claimed Cree XML-T”s & 3000-5000 lumens but in reality latticebright led”s & probably 300 lumens.
However the bezel”s are 38mm so I have just ordered one of these Fenix red lenses (costs more than I paid for the Chinese lamps) & with a bit of tape or similar to build up the bezel diameter I should be able to get a snug fit.

Well the 40mm Fenix push on red lens arrived.
I wrapped some insulation tape around the bezel of one of my cheap chinese zoomies to build the od up to 40mm & got a snug fit with the lens.
Unfortunately when I used the lamp it was just not bright enough for my use.
So I am back to square one.
I need either a red headlamp that will light up objects at about 50m distance or a red lens that will fit on a headlamp.
If the red light will illuminate reasonably well at around 50m I will not need to be able to use white light so it could be a red only headlamp.
Also although I have never re-flowed an led I wonder what sort of result I could expect if I re-flowed a red led onto say a 1000 lumen white led light ?
Failing the above a reasonably bright white light with red led/led”s as well ?
I know that the Nitecore NU10 has both a main white led & red but the white is only 160 lumens & the red is 13 lumens.

Especially the red LEDs cant be driven hard as blue LEDs
Their forward voltage is significant lower

If you would have a headlight with buck converter you could increase the sense resistor for lower current

XPE2 orange red driven at 1050mA on DTP star should give about 200 lumens
