Is there anything better than an Astrolux S1 for the price?

Pretty much as the title says, with such brightness in 18650 form and compact/fixed.

I think it depends on what your needs are and how much you’re paying for it. A while back I got a couple of shorty S1’s off Amazon for $14. That was a great deal, IMO. You can get an S1 w/ both tubes from Banggood out of their US warehouse (if you’re in the states) for around $24. That’s a reasonable price, too. But none of this amounts to a hill of beans of the light doesn’t suit your needs. If, for example, you are looking for with long range, the S1 isn’t really going to fit your needs so no matter cheap you get it for, it probably won’t be worth it, IMO. I do like my S1 (and BLF A6). The interface suits me, love the levels, battery check, etc… It’s one of my favorite “around the house” lights.

I hear a lot of good things about the Convoy S2. I don’t personally own a Convoy S2 in white light (mine is UV), but that being said, I like the UV one that I have. Hmm…might need to fix that situation…

The thing i like about S2+ is that it is mod friendly and the price A6 is similar.

BLF A6, Convoy S2+ and Astrolux S41 are among my favorite lights.

The convoy S2+ is easy to mod and has a good selection of emitters from stock (even more if you ask Simon for it). It comes with a regulated driver Vs the fet+1 on the A6/S1, so you might take that into consideration. Both lights are also very likely to show up on the deals threads

S1, S41 and A6 with short tube and INR 18350 are among my favorite general use lights. Same lumen output as with 18650 long tube, just shorter run times in an even smaller form factor. And when you compare them to most 16340 lights, they are barely bigger and can typically output double the lumens. S2+ can also run a short tube, btw.

i don;t know - it;s my favorite and i have used and broken several other competitors
for the price and general use it cannot be beat
it isnt a thrower, but to me that isn;t ‘general use’
do get the 18650 version

wle

The JAXMAN E2L is also a very good flashlight. I have a modified E2L and it is currently my favorite 18650 flashlight. It is compact enough that I went jogging with it last night. A great combination of brightness and EDC size.

yeah Jaxman E2L seems like a good flashlight too, never own one but cheap enough that i am thinking of buying it too.

I’ve never owned a Convoy S2+ but at $10, looks like I don’t have a choice anymore. Gearbest Daily Deal Updated: March 16th 2021/ Baseus LED Flashlight $21.99 with the code: GBREAKER

Eagle eye X2R with a short tube adds on board charging in lieu of some lumens of the other options

Solarforce L2M and your choice of drop-in(s).

Comes with a 2-piece tube right out of the tin, so will take an 18650 or 18350. Or with the right drop-in that can do 2S, stack 2 18350s, ’though I’ve got no idea why you’d want to.

You want WW, NW, CW, you got it. Stick with SMO or in the mood for OP, you can have that, too. Want runtime/current of an 18650, or the “smallness” and “pocketability” of a shorty-tube, you can have that, too. Throwy XP-L or XP-G, or floody XM-L2, you can have both. Etc. Just get the right drop-ins, and you can lego together what you want.
