Convoy S2+ - is 'Clear' the new 'Silver'?

I just got a new Clear Convoy S2+.

It looks more like the color silver than what I expected, which was a clear aluminum host.

Is the Clear Convoy S2+ supposed to look more like painted silver instead of 'clear' polished aluminum?

In my experience the finish of the ‘clear’ Convoys (S2+ and C8) is very inconsistent. One of my S2+ is shiny and the other much more matte/frosted looking. Same thing when comparing both my clear C8’s

I guess the good thing is that it makes each light a little more unique, however if Convoy release a clear 18350 tube then it’s unlikely going to match with both my S2+

Picky I know, but the difference in appearance is very easy to see in the flesh.

I think the shininess depends on the aluminum finish.
When it’s thorougly sand blasted or not.

I can see how it may look like ‘silver paint’.
That’s the anodizing changing the surface of the aluminum.
I find clear anodized aluminum can look a little cheap sometimes.
Polished bare aluminum looks much better i.m.o.
But then you have no ceramic protective layer so it will scratch easily.

Looking for:

5” parabolic reflector (for recoil light)

Yes I agree that polished bare aluminium looks the best. I would love to get hold of a S2+ host with no knurling on it, then it would be much easier to polish and would look very sleek.

Must be what I noticed, compared my delivered Clear ConvoyS2+ to a photo of it on the Web....inconsistency of the finish-

Sandpaper and lots of elbow grease perhaps? Yes, it would look good.

To many flashlights, too many batteries. Wife is going to kill me Smile

Big Smile I had thought about it but I might try track down someone with a lathe and then cut off the knurl in one sweep. Will lose some wall thickness but it shouldn’t be a problem Thumbs Up
