Can you recommend some budget storage boxes of good quality?

I want to keep 12 AA cells in a backpack to be used in frequently. The device will drain them so want to keep them in a decent storage box that will stay shut. Any recs?

Someone posted about a Walmart carrier that looks like a transparent pelican case, waterproof and all

There are a number of very nice options for cheap if you look on eBay. Type a search for battery carrier and battery case.

I was hoping for a specific recommendation. Previous ones I purchased from the China sellers had a poor catch mechanism and the lip pops open easy. I want to avoid that for carrying in my backpack as they will scatter out of the box.

I have a pelican type box that I got from the Walmart fishing department that is very secure. I will try to go over at lunch and get an actual model, I can tell you it was less than 10 bucks. Having said that, I have had pretty good luck using business cards as insulators in battery powered devices that get stored in backpacks (BOB, GHB, INCH, …) for long periods of time. Cut the card to fit, and often I stick a tab outside the battery cover so when I do pick it up, it is obvious that there is a “pull tab before use” kind of thing going on.
[edit]Oooh, look! I found it on Walmart.com rather than going over there. :person_facepalming:
Robot or human? [/edit]

Quality box, but for 10 pieces:

10 x Original Xiaomi Zi5 Rainbow AA Alkaline Battery

I have the Outdoor Products cell phone case, and I love it. My first one got run over by a semi and it saved the phone.

Cheap box + a piece of tape to hold it shut. That’s my solution.

Thanks Leaftye for the brand, I think it was this one here:

I am also constantly looking but never buying boxes :person_facepalming:

This thread Nice little watertight (battery) storage case from Walmart reviews the Walmart boxes.

I do own and use these. I really don’t recommend for backpacking as they are not waterproof. They do work, you would need three, not a big deal as they are cheap. I use them in “dry” places.

There have been reviews of this case Storage Case , on the BLF but I don’t a lot of time to search for the review(s).
I have had my eye on it but never decided to buy. I like the price - cheap.

AlexGT, that’s the one that protected my phone from being crushed by a semi. I just checked, and AA’s fit with room to spare. I like it better than my Pelican 1040. The 1040 is made from acrylic, and worse, the latches are made from acrylic. Acrylic fractures, which makes it a terrible choice for the latch. The Outdoor Products case appears to use ABS for the latch, and time and that incident with the semi has shown it to be a better engineered case.
