What's up with my C8?

I have a clear C8 with a weird issue; the light steps down the power levels and turns itself off after a few seconds. It does this with all cells I’ve tried, even a brand new fully charged 30Q. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is going on here?

maybe the button is sticky, thinks you are holding it down, later becomes unstuck til you push again…

or it is not accurately sensing the voltage levels
that is what it should do - if the cell is weak or it thinks the cell is weak/run down

wle

Sounds like the driver is malfunctioning. Either can’t provide sustained power to the LED, or is mistakenly detecting a depleted cell.

Has the light ever worked properly, or is this a DoA issue?

Thanks for the replies. Yes it has worked well in the past, certainly not DoA.

I’ve been fiddling with it this afternoon and it seems to be behaving now; I managed to get it into the config mode and change the mode group. Temporary glitch? Fingers crossed!

Mode group 12: the only useful group the C8 has.

Malfunctioning again. What’s the solution? New driver?

Checked all retainer rings? (driver and tail switch)

Modes 5 and 6 are pretty good too, depending on how you like mode memory :innocent:

on and off malfunctioning like that sounds like a mechanical issue. I agree with the retaining ring suggestion above. Also check the ring in the tailcap

Loosened and retightend the head retaining ring, same issue.

Bypassing the tailcap also results in the malfunction, ruling out that end out of the equation to my mind.
