Olight S15R charging base blinking red all the time

Hi,

I have an Olight S15R that I bought awhile ago. Mostly the light has been left on the charging base, with occasional use and the light on the charging base would stay solid green.

Lately, I noticed that the base is always blinking red.

I’ve tried unplugging and then plugging the power into the base, re-seated the light on the base, but still the same.

Does anyone know what is wrong?

Thanks,
Jim

I have an S15R and I have this problem occasionally. I’ve found the cause to be poor contact between the base and flashlight.

Cleaning the base contacts without cleaning the flashlight contacts usually doesn’t fix mine but that is an easy first try. I typically us a pencil eraser, alcohol or contact cleaner .

I carry my flashlight in a pouch in my pocket and the contacts collect bits and pieces of stuff. Sometimes cleaning externally with a q-tip and cleaner works. If it doesn’t, you may have to disassemble the tail cap and clean all the individual pieces.

The S15R is my favorite light but I think the tail cap is a weakness. It stopped turning on after I used it for a while and the factory recommendation was to make certain the internal retaining ring on the tail cap was tight. If it was tight, the next step was to disassemble and clean the parts.

Seems like a bad battery? Try changing the battery

I have an S15R and a S10R. My experience has been that bad contacts between the light and dock is to blame. Try a second cell if you have one.

I saw where ohaya posted a comment to my question a few months ago about an issue I was having with my S15R, and everyone who says it is a contact issue between the charging base and magnetic tailcap is right. In my case the magnetic tailcap attracted some keys that were in my pocket, and the keys pushed in the center connection of the tailcap which stayed pushed in breaking the connection. Changing batteries didn’t help. Cleaning the contacts and spraying some lube on the center connection has fixed the problem so far.
