Warm White emitter for BLF A6

Hi all

I recently got my second BLF A6, at a flash sale.
But it was the 1A (6500K) emitter config.

My first was the 3D (5000K). Still my favorite light ever.

But the 6500K color temp reeeeeally bug me.

SO, I’m on the lookout for at warm white emitter to replace it.

So far i found these:

Cree XP-L V3-5D 3700-4000K

Cree XM-L2 T6-6C 10W 3500K

Cree XM-L2 T4-7C 2800-3000K

Seems as though the lower the color temp, I have to sacrifice lumen output.
But on the other hand I also want the color to stand out, compared to the general LED flashlight, with “cool white/purple” tint that muggles use
But I still want it to be a powerful light, so what would you recommend?

I would go for a xpl as the reflector is designed to use a xpl. And I like the the D tints better than C. C’s have a bit of green in them. D’s are more rosy. I love 5D :sunglasses:

Edit: just clicked your links. But you wil need a dtp board under the led, the ones you linked will not survive in the a6.

Edit2: I did a quick search, but I can only find 5a tinted XPL’s but that is also a fine tint with less green than C’s.

If sou do not plan to reflow the LED from the aluminum star to the DTP in the flashlight on DD the new LED will die from heat

So go for a star on DTP board

Got it, so just to be sure, this will also do, and survive?

All types of XPL LEDs on DTP will survive DD from a 4.2V battery

Why not just de-dome it. It will shift the tint and throw better.

Dedoming 1A 6500 eill lead to 2B 5700K ish tint
Getting real NW or WW does not work dedoming a cool white

Or, warm white and high CRI :
CREE XM-L2 T3 7A3 CRI90 3000K - 3250K

Okay, yeah that’s still too high. I def wanna go >4000K with this

Prefer it in 16mm so i don’t have do resolder the LED

But the high CRI is appreciated :+1:

If you really want to go with a7a (i think it will be to yellow/warm). I’d go for this one.
