I knew there’d be one of you and it should have dawned on me which one…

UFO is still going, somehow.

Oh, and for the record, the following categories don’t count, either:

Ugly Fart Organizers
United Federated Onlookers
Unitarian Friends Online
Unbelievable Frankfurter Outlet
Unlikely Fashion Ombudsman
Ussep Family Original
Unguarded Freedom Origami

Well, only problem here is that I recognized that as a tardigrade immediately. They are quite famous, at least relative to other life forms of their size Wink . Some species can survive the vacuum of space with no apparent difficulties and it’s imagined that Earth has undoubtedly sent many to Mars and elsewhere via debris caused by asteroid collision. We haven’t seen them on Mars, but it’s possible that they’re just pretending not to be home.

On the other hand, I have no idea of which species this example belongs to, so I guess it remains unidentified, after all. This one might call itself “Jim”, for example, but we don’t know as there seems to be no link to its Facebook or Instagram pages.

Just a reminder to get those last-minute entries in, as I’ll probably call this before hitting the sack tonight. Be aware, however, that I’m pretty much nocturnal so this may not occur for another 5-6 hours.

We’ve seen images from a variety of styles, so it was difficult to choose which was “best” considering the context of my request. I really liked the old-fashioned UFO photos, as those are classic and Tally-ho’s scene was pretty and unexpected as I hadn’t considered the light-painting category when asking for UFO subjects. Lightbringer brought the farce and we even saw everyone’s favorite hair doing something alien. I also considered the tardigrade, as it certainly appears to be a mothership capable of launching a swarm of alien attackers.

But…

In the end, I chose Mr. Scott’s cluster balloonist on a flight that evokes memories of Lawn Chair Larry and his 16,000ft breach of federal airspace. Though not technically “unidentified” in nature, it’s lack of practicality and inherent danger make the case that intelligent aliens who happen to come by would surely keep right on flying once they see the insanity of the human species. As Calvin once said to Hobbes,

Quote:
Sometimes I think that the surest sign of intelligent life elsewhere in the Universe is that none of it has tried to contact us. —Watterson

Who among us hasn’t wanted to tie enough helium ballons to ourselves that we rose into the air? Here’s to a Vietnam veteran, unintended threat to commercial air passengers, cause of at least one LA blackout, victim of suicide, and bonafide American hero, Larry Walters Beer .

Take us away, Mr. Scott.

It’ll be hard to beat Lightbringer’s CAT for size as those are some of the largest vehicles in the world, but this one carries 450 tons:

Well, the Space Shuttle itself was considered a “space truck”, so it counts as well.
