Question on the UI for this clone, earlier in this thread it was said the “regular 3-mode” is L-M-Strobe. Has that been changed?

Looks like it’s L-M-H (Low, Medium, Height) for the 3-mode group, and strobe is hidden – activated by 3-clicks:

Can anyone confirm this?

I ordered mine 11/27 – recieved it 12/20 and it has the standard med, high, strobe. If they changed it (and I hope they have), it was very recently.

Thanks, hmmm…Do you recall seeing this photo description in the listing before? I’m wondering if it has been upgraded since this is the very last thing at the bottom of the the listing.

I sent the question to JAXMNVE, awaiting answer (hope I get a reply)

"Over 2000000 hours (about 200 years) standby time"  (DQG Tiny 4th)

"27,157 results for zoomable flashlight" (ebay)

If I recall correctly, the modes where differently advised in the photos, so perhaps they did change the UI.
L-M-H seems much useful than L-H-Strobe!

It definitely did not say that when I ordered.

Hey, it’s only $13. Lol

If they change to a better UI, I will buy several as gifts.

I also asked the store if the UI was recently changed. Facepalm As long as they answer someone, it’s all good.

I received a (one word) answer from Jack Wang at JAXMNVE:

My question:

The last photo in the description shows the function for the regular 3-mode is Low-Medium-Height, and press 3 times for Blasting Flash. Is this correct? So it has now been changed from the previous, Medium-High-Flash? I hope it is true!

Their answer:

yes

Nice! A simple word can make the difference on this Big Smile Well, a word and 3 “likes” Big Smile
Onto topic, I’m glad that they changed the driver or UI, it will probably more “user-friendly”! Maybe they will change the UI on the other lights they have (such as the headlight), and make them more attractive as well Thumbs Up

Thanks for letting us know beam0 Wink

I have some questions for anyone who owns one of these, some may have been answered earlier in the thread but I want to confirm anyway:

1. Double click to ramping is from OFF or from ON? (or from either?)
2. When it enters ramping does it start on high or low?
3. Is there memory on the ramping mode?
4. Does it require a button top battery or will flat top work too?
5. Is the emitter genuine USA Cree or is it latticebright etc.?

Also a question for anyone who has both this and OTR M3: Is High on this comparable output to the OTR M3 Turbo?

I was considering the OTR M3 but I’d rather have NW than the warmer 5C of the OTR, plus I think I’ll like the ramping mode too. I’ve had the OTR M6 for several years and still carry it daily.

Yup, it seems nice! Let’s see what answer they will give you Wink Even with a “simple” UI, it would be better to have L-M-H, than the L-H-Strobe!

I’m not able to answer all the questions as I don’t have the flashlight with me! If some members can do that, nice; otherwise, tomorrow I’ll answer that Wink
1. Can’t remember…
2. Can’t remember…
3. Yes, there is memory on ramping mode!
4. My guess is that a flat top will also work, but I only tried with the battery it came with and I have no flat top batteries Facepalm
5. The emitter is genuine Wink It has a nice neutral to warm tint (despite with the SMO reflector it creates some “yellowish” corona).

One thing you must be aware is the ramping mode. It is quite similar to this that freeme posted here:
http://budgetlightforum.com/comment/1200893#comment-1200893

The low is not moonlight, the high is not super bright! Also, when it starts ramping in one direction (up or down), even if you stop it, next time you hit the button it will ramp up or down, and it will only ramp in the opposite direction after reaching the top or bottom limit!

I believe that the 3 modes L-M-H will be much more usable than the ramping mode. Thumbs Up

No, the OTR turbo is brighter. The difference between 500 lumen and 900 lumen is not so great, but it is noticable.

I have CW in both models and both are identical in tint. Not very cool in my opinion. Both have a hint of paleness. It kind of reminds me of a cree 2x color rather than a 1x. I’m gonna try a sst40 in it to see if I can’t get rid of the yellow. I’ve heard the OTR NW is also warmer than people expect. You can also play with the tint a little by changing the glass lens.

The OTR M3 and clone M3 have clear lenses. If you add an AR coated lens it makes it even more NW.

OTR M3’s are $5 more than these clones right now & they respond to inquiries with more than a single word.

They even apologized for taking 2 days to put together an english translation of the M1 UI when I asked for it.

I see it for $7 more, but only in CW and with no battery from Gearbest. With battery it’s $31.

Are you seeing an $18 M3 somewhere else?

MascaratumB, Thanks for your answers.

In an earlier post you wrote:

It doesn’t go that UP nor that DOWN while in the “steppless dimming” mode, so it is like a no-no!
What exactly did you mean by that?

In freeme’s vid it appears when ramping reaches max or min it doesn’t blink or pause, it just immediately reverses direction. So no pause when reaches min. and no blinking when it reaches max. Flat Stare Flat Stare

By this do you mean if you stop and then restart the ramping it will continue in the same direction as before you stopped? I only have one light with ramping and that’s what it does, so that seems normal to me. Do other ramping UI’s do something different?

I’m gonna try a sst40 in it to see if I can’t get rid of the yellow. I’ve heard the OTR NW is also warmer than people expect. You can also play with the tint a little by changing the glass lens.

The OTR M3 and clone M3 have clear lenses. If you add an AR coated lens it makes it even more NW.

Thanks for your answers.

Ya 1x or 2x would be too cold for me and 5c (3800-4000k) probably too warm.

This is one reason this JAXMNVE M3 appeals to me, it has NW 3C which should be around 5000k

1. from ON
2. on low
3. yes
4. button top only
5. it’s genuine

Smile

So for sure you cannot enter ramping with a double click directly from off?

.

Thought this meant it did but guess not Flat Stare

It does not register a double click from off. It sees it as 2 seperate clicks.

So when starting in ramping it begins with LOW by default, but if a specific level was memorized it starts on that memorized level, correct?

By this do you mean if you stop and then restart the ramping it will continue in the same direction as before you stopped? I only have one light with ramping and that’s what it does, so that seems normal to me. Do other ramping UI’s do something different?

You are correct in your assumption.

In Narsil you can easily reverse direction if you want. With this jaxmnve you just have to let it do what it wants.

So double click from off does nothing, from what I can tell.

Would’ve been real nice if they made it enter ramping with a double click from off – for quick access to your desired (memorized) level.

OTR M3’s are $5 more than these clones right now & they respond to inquiries with more than a single word.

They even apologized for taking 2 days to put together an english translation of the M1 UI when I asked for it.

Please tell us where?

I can get the OTR M3 full kit for about $9 more, but only in CW right now.

You can? Where?

I only see it for $18 more.

You misunderstand.

A double click from off turns it on at the last used level then advances it to the next level.

Once you leave the ramping mode, the memory is lost. It memories every level. If you turn it off in strobe, it comes on in strobe. If you turn it off while it’s ramping, it turns on and continues ramping.
