Astrolux MF01

Astrolux MF01

This thing is a beast. Four 18650 batteries and 18 LEDs with an advertised 12,000 lumens, it might just be more flashlight than anyone needs but it sure is cool. The machining, fit and finish are great and it comes very well packed in a box good enough for a gift. The lighted side switch make it easy to find in the dark and the electronic lock out helps make sure you don’t blind yourself or the dog accidentally. There is a provision for a lanyard in the tail cap but it’s slightly comical to attach a tiny lanyard to such a beast of a light.

The black anodized coating has been applied well and my example didn’t show any dark or light places. The threads are smoother and the both the threads and orings came well greased. The side switch is well lit, making it easy to find. When locked, the light turns off. Additionally, the switch offers great feedback with a crisp click when depressed. all those LEDs give you a nice wide, even beam. No discernible hot spot or rings around the outside on my example. The battery cage is also very solid. The batteries fit in tight and securely, it feels like a quality piece.

I did my best to get pictures at longer distances but I was pushing the limits of the camera on my phone. You’ll have to take my word for it, it was lighting up past 400’ on turbo. Also on turbo the light never gets too hot, you could see the light step down as it got hot. So far, on a set of fully charged decent 18650 batteries the run times seem to be pretty close to Astrolux’s claims.

Do you need this light? No, probably not. Do you want it? Hell yeah, it’s a very cool light to play around with. I can see it being useful in the right circumstance but it’s so large that it’s cumbersome to transport and carry. Overall though the quality is great, and how often do you get to tell your friends you have a light that will produce 12,000 lumens?

Thanks for the mini review and beam shots A-MAC!
I’ve got a Nichia version on the way
How long does it take for it to step down in turbo?
Hows the heat on high and does it step down?

nice review!
like the fact that they include a stainless steel nut to put in the tripod hole so it fits smaller bolts as well as bigger.

How do you find the color rendering? There’s some green and yellow in the beam shots

It’s not really noticeable to the eye in real life unless at close range. And this isn’t really a close range type of light

Wow factor light as per you anyway :smiling_imp:

It definitely wasn’t hot when it stepped down, heat management was great.
I didn’t time it though.

It’s a very cool white, no color at all. I think the combination of me using a phone for pictures and all the grass might give a slightly green/yellow appearance.

I think they are an advertiser here. If not and this breaks the rules I’ll remove it. Link and code to get it for $78.
