Three years ago this month I put together my first light, a Convoy C8. I used a CREE XM-L2 T6 3C on a Noctigon DTP MCPCB and a QLITE driver (3.04A). Sadly this light was lost during the recent floods so I decided to build a couple more.

The first one is a tried and true Convoy C8 that I love so much. This time I decided to focus on making it more of a thrower than the first one I built. I used a CREE XP-L HI U5 5A1 on a Noctigon DTP MCPCB and a 3.04A QLITE flashed with guppydrv. This light has more throw than anything I’ve ever had before and I love it!

The second is a grey Convoy S2, the first S2 that I’ve ever owned. For this one I wanted something with a really floody beam and a fairly high CRI LED. I went with a Nichia 219C D280 80 CRI 5000K on a Noctigon DTP MCPCB, 3.04A QLITE flashed with guppydrv, and a 60 degree TIR. This thing turned out perfect and is exactly what I was wanting. The beam is perfect for my needs and the color rendering is awesome! I’ll be building another one for my fiancé before she steels mine lol.

For your next build you should go with a 3 x 219C setup in your S2+.
I believe that there are conversion kits available by some popular stores.

Hammer get a UT02 and do a simple resistor mod and it will be better than the C8 and hav a 26650 5500 mAhr

There’s definitely something very satisfying about it.

That’s on the list for sure.

I haven’t seen that light before, I like it. I’m also interested in something like a Convoy L6 with a XHP70.
