So i bought a nitecore tip, after like 2 days it just turns off itself after like 30 seconds ? battery fully charged even with cable it does this ? so dissapointed, even my first nitecore tube had issues and now this how much bad luck can u get or is nitecore just crap when it comes to keychain lights? I havent even dropped it or anything a keychain light should work for a long time, now i duno what to do, bought from gearbest send it back will cost more then the product does
good thing i bought a manker lad too, seems to be working atleast.
only had 1 Nitecore in my entire life (Sens AA) and was quite surprised how much better the quality was compared to budget lights. There is a real difference IMO. Sold the Sens AA because I didnāt needed the features but otherwise good light.
I havenāt had much luck with their plastic lights, though I really like their MH20. I bought the NU30 which is/was a POS didnāt last me 4 months used it maybe 20 times before the plastic broke.
With the light at any setting, hold down both buttons simultaneously to switch between modes; one flash means it is in Daily Mode and two flashes means it is in Constant-on Mode.
Daily mode is suitable for short illumination and prevents power loss.
In this mode the light will automatically turn off after 30 seconds of use.
The Constant-on setting is suitable for outdoor activities that require longer illumination as the light stays on until manually turned off.
Nitecore doesnāt have the best quality control imo. Iāve had a few lights where the led wasnāt centered correctly and my tube is a bit buggy sometimes. The order of the best quality lights areā¦
Thereās a trade off between trying to push new products out and having the best quality products. Nitecore tries to bring as many new products to market as possible to gain market share and as a result QC suffers a bit whereas the other ones donāt have as many skuās but the ones they do have are top notch.
Thorfire made it on my list just because the bang per buck is high. The light you get is pretty good considering what youāre paying for it.
30 seconds sounds like the ādaily modeā indeed.
Press both buttons simultaneously to switch to the other mode, it will blink once or twice to confirm this.
Tip about the TIP: read the manual.
To the Op, Iāve got an mt20a which is has worked flawlessly so farā¦
As for the list of best lights, It would be cool to take a poll and have a real list of what is a generally agreed quality ranking. It would have to be separate from the āquality for the moneyā list. Iāve given away two thorfire lights in a row, though Iāll prob hold onto the Q8.
Iāve had several Nitecores apart. Their machining is usually very good but their electrics leave a lot to be desired. Rough pcbās, sloppy soldering, honestly kind of a mess, usually. Thatās just a few lights though, so maybe Iām just unlucky.
Everybodyās experiences are different but Iāve never had anything fail from nitecore. The only light Iāve had fail is an olight. Iām still charging batterys with a 4 year old nitecore i4
There is typically only 3 states of a flashlight
Working flawless
Unreliable
Dead
Most users will have a working light for a long time even with abuse
So if you are unlucky with a unreliable or dead light you can always blame that company, but it does not say how f that company is good or bad.
If we would have statistics with dead % of lights that would be a starting point.
But even if Nitecore or Olight have a low % of dead lights, still that they are heavily glued or press fit you can not open without damaging the light turn out to be bad as it is very complicated or impossible to fix the light.
If a Convoy has a problem you can identify and fix it fast and without much trouble
The TIP 2017 is the only Nitecore flashlight I have, and so far it didnāt disappoint me concerning its working. It could be different, having a electronic lockout as the previous version and rubber cap for the USB port, but thatās all!
I also had the same thoughts about the working (shutting OFF after 30 seconds), but then I read the manualā¦and perceived it has 2 main settings
Even if itās not in the keychain, itās an EDC for sure, being a lightweight flashlight, providing good illumination at short (10-15m) range!! I wouldnāt buy it if there wasnāt a nice coupon, butā¦they were around, so I got one :money_mouth_face:
Yup, I know and Iāve been using it that way (to cover the port and to lock it), and the clip is really useful for that and other stuff.
But I guess the other features I mentioned would be - in some way - safer for a light like this! Nitecore ādismissedā the e-lockout to prevent battery drain and included the clip for physical lock out.
Thatās good! But, when the TIP is in the pocket, putting the clip on (to prevent activation) and taking the clip out (to use the light) is somehow ātroublesomeā! Also, knowing that if some water drops and gets into the USB port - even when the clip is on it, because it covers it mostly for dust, not liquids, unlike a rubber cover - is a bit annoying!
Overall, I like the flashlight for the other things
This is just an opinion and a taste, of course!!
Yeah, about that, since local hunting community found out about my flashlight hoby I had at least 8 of Olight M3XS-UT for a repair, mostly with dead driverās, some also with burned LEDs + they are PITA to disassemble because they use glue like itās free. They would certainly not win first place quality award from me.
