So this light had some issues. When I first got it and put the battery in, it flickered and changed modes with the slightest movements. The threads on the tail end and in the tail cap were dirty, with dark grey alluminum dust. The lens appeared to be dirty... So I went ahead and disassembled it.

First thing I removed the head. the pill was loose, so I screwed it in until the reflector seated on it firm but not tight and the pill had no play to it. that fixed the flicker and mode changes.

Then I noteced a pulse-ish like flicker in the beam. Not enough to change modes but it was there. So again disassemble. This time i cleaned all threads and the brass pill with alcohol and qtips. Then i sprayed a dab of Rem Oil on the threads. Took out the lens and tried to clean t with some glass cleaner and micro fiber cloth. reassembled, adjusted pill to seat right, and popped the battery in again. No more pulse. The lens still looks dirty when the lights on, I may have to address that later with some glass polish for my pellet stove...

Cleaning the bare threads with alcohol turned the qtip grey. Leads me to think that they may not last long if thats from threading, but could be left over from machining.

Now its all back together. No pulse, dirty lens, and very slight defect on the reflector but thats not seen in the beam at all

The finish had no dings, dents or scratches. The anno looks "scaley" up close, but itll end up scratched and its not real noticeable unless your looking for it. The machining looks pretty good, except the threads. the last thread cut on all of the bare threads is not smooth. Its like a little jagged hook that kept getting cotton stuck to it when cleaning. The outside looks good with no tool marks.

the output is not real impressive to me, but I bought it with all intentions of doing an xml swap anyways. It does throw pretty well as is though

High 1.67a
Medium 0.59a
Low 0.11a

The pill can (and will) be replaced with a p60 pill

Well, I guess this is more of my observations than a review, but here it is anyway. Im sure I missed something, and I know Ill add stuff later, so there will be updates

The pill was loose inside and fell out when opening the light. It`s not a Q5 LED.

The battery tube is to tight for 18650 Trustfire Flames.

Have got the same light fom Manafont and that one works perfect.

thanks for the info.

which LED?

easy to fix?

which one has better output DD or MF?

BT

As stock it comes with an R2. The switch on my one is limiting current to the XM-L dropin that now lives in it. I get a 3-400 lumen boost by using a bit of wire rather than the switch.

I don`t know what kind of LED it is. It`s bright, but not as bright as the XM-L I put in the Manafont`s. It has H-M-S and a black dot in the middle of the light.

Will try some sandpaper to fix the tight tube.

That's a Cree MC-E LED

DD is for shure in the surprise business.

But at least they are already in the Christmas mood because that emitter/pill looks more like its dressed out with imitation snow than TIM..............lol Actually even the MCE adds to the effect because it looks just like a window on an old house. I wonder if it will play Christmas carols when you get to turn it on?

I was a rights, when did not buy on DD)))

that led looks horrible and nothing like mine (the fake snow mess). mine looks like the xre from foyes close up thread

also mine takes a 18650 with a little side to side play

my 502b w/xml shipped today, ordered yesterday. im going to swap the pills over so this will be xml in about a week (hoping).

looking at the flashlight wiki, im almost positive mine is an xre. i searched and it seems every site i looked at claims it is a q5 bin.

but anyways. what would be better with this reflector, an mce or xml @ 2.8a?

Contacted CS and asked what to do, soon after they offered me a USD 20 giftcard.

I think they really try to solve problems and make theyr costumers pleased.

The LED is garbage. The battery tube is coated inside (the light from Manafont is not), and with some sandpaper work 18650 battery will fit, and it will be a nice host for an Ultrafire XM-L dropin- almost for free.
