Looking for some guidance

A while ago I bought a few Convoy C8, 4C lights. Work great in the yard. I am looking for a light that would be good for pre-trip inspections. Although I really like the 4c’s, I would appreciate any other possibilities.

When working on a car or with other relatively close by jobs, I like to have the fat hotspot of a Tir optic. Also a magnetic tail can be really convenient.

Olight S series comes to mind. Or a convoy S2+, with a magnetic ring in the tail and you can replace the reflector with a tir optic (there are several topics on this)

Headlamp like Skilhunt H03 are great for close up work

Thanks for the replies!
I was considering the S2 already, although I might just mod one of my c8’s. I enjoy modding things, just new to flashlight modding. So many options…

i find that my s2 is great for working on cars and checking things out anywhere. a simple s2 with an xml2 will give lots of light and runtime…. i use it way more than my c8…. plus with a deep pocket clip, i can grab it or free up a hand immediately. simon and richard have everything….they also have them ready to go, but i always buy the driver and led separate

is there much of a difference in output between the CW and NW versions? good sale price now at GB, wanted this for awhile, just not sure how it will travel overseas, they tend to just throw items in a bubble mailer, and things get a bit crushed

For car inspections you do not want CW and do not need high lumens, everything will just glare back at you and you will not see details. I tried to follow wiring in an engine bay in broad daylight recently with 500-700 lumens NW and had to turn it down to medium to see what was going on.

A 3 mode NW S2+ should work well, great value, especially since you already have the batteries and trust Convoy.

Ever consider a headlamp? A Boruit RJ02 can be had for <10bux. The come-with TIR lens can be swapped for any other 20mm TIR lens, including a nice wider-angle 60°.

That’s been my go-to light for hands-free work.

By “swapped”, I don’t mean taking apart half the light. Just unscrew the “cap” that holds in the TIR, drop in the new one, rescrew the cap. Done. 10sec, tops.

Headlamps are great for walking around and working with your hands, and the Boruit RJ02 gets my vote of approval as well, but for inspections you normally want to get light around, in, and behind things, without having to get your head there. Holding the light in the engine bay to see fluid levels, in wheel wells to check tyres, underneath to look for oil leaks - not things a headlamp is well suited for.

But for $20 you can have both - Boruit and an S2+, if you shop a bit for coupons and flash sales.

Hi Lightbringer
Curious, got a link for this 60 degree lens ?
Thanks
