18650 zoomie received. Advice please

Firstly, Yes I know it is not the best choice out there, but ordered this fasttech zoomie to have a play with and hopefully do some mods.

On first testing, it only draws about 1.4A from a Samsung Q30 (with the switch removed). Website states 2.8A??? It does not seem to get warm at all.
Mine says L2 on it - not MX-L2 as on the website.

Heres a pic of the led. Would be good to if that looks genuine.

Here is a link to the a beamshot.

There are dots on the focused image and part of the square has a yellow tinge to it (bottom right on photo), where most of the square is white.
Is this normal?

Look forward to any advice.

fake emitter probably, thats why it doesnt get warm at all and doesnt have a clean beam, not a bad light for the price but no way near the claimed 900l… i have one myself i think the actual lumens is around 300ish only…

Swap the emitter with an XP-G2 on a copper DTB board. Replace the driver with a 3A Qlite or Nanjg 105c. I prefer the smaller die of the emitter in these zoomies. It makes for a nice zoomed in beam, but is floody enough when zoomed out.

Dedomed real Cree XML2 with 2.8A driver will be much better costs you 6$

At 2.8A DTP star is not needed on 5mm footprint, but it improves the output by 5-7%

Thanks for the suggestions. This sounds like fun.
I’m going to contact fast tech and have a moan about it and then consider some decent parts.
