Acebeam - check this UC 15 out

thoughts?

1000 Lumens from a keychain light? not bad.

I think they meant to say 10440 (AAA size) cells, not 10400

yea, just a typo. I have an e-mail in to them as to when it will be available. Most of these type lights have a built in battery. This is unusual, especially with the 10440. A hand warmer for sure.

Seriously, 1000lm for keychain light?

:person_facepalming:

A Convoy L6 is cheaper than that - and don’t say me that the L6 needs ledd machining costs…
20-25$ without betteries would be a more adequate price.
To be honest - even though I need more and more Lumens on a flashlight - the ~300Lm that a TIP can deliver are well enough for a keychain.

… maybe you are not a true flashaholic

1000 lumens out of two 10440 cells… Poor cells must work really hard…

To be honest I do not like it.
Why, well it looks “ordinary”, nothing really attractive about its design. It looks to me like a rushed product because Nitecore is selling tons of TIPs, and there are other popular light in this format so Acebeam had to do something to establish their presence in this market segment.
Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against Acebeam, in fact I love most of their light (owned several, superb quality, would like to have X80) but this one, not their best work, and the 1000 lumens mode, should I comment on that, did they started competing with 6000 lumens generic chinese headlamps and 8000 mAh 18650 cells? Or is it a 1000 lumens strobe! because, that would be useful, to someone, somewhere, maybe…

I think like many Acebeam products, this one will impress future buyers most with the beam shots. My guess is that it will obliterate the competition like the TIP or LAD. Raw output is what Acebeam is going for these days.

Looks like raw output is what people are inpressed this days with.Almost every week I get a call or two with request like ” hey could you replace this weak (3W but they don’t know that) LED in my (10$ stinking hollow tube) “Police” (thats a brand name, not actually police forces dedicated) flashlight with new 3000 lumens LED?! :expressionless:

Would’nt two 10440 exceed its listed working voltage range?

If in series yes, but then you have a (buck) driver that reduces the voltage to what is required for the led. But it also accepts primaries or NiMH, so in that case it must increase voltage with a (boost) driver. So you will have a combined boost/buck driver to regulate voltage to the led.

However,

according to specs, its voltage range is 0.9-4.2V, so the two cells are parallel. A driver to slightly reduce voltage to get 1000 lumens, and a boost driver to increase voltage when using primaries/NiMH.
Honestly, I wonder whether you see 1000 lumens at all. I’d say major voltage sag for the two little cells…

*Mid: 200 lms, 1h 20min
High: 1000~200LM, 1min+46min*

So running it at 1000LM for 1 minute decreases the 200LM runtime from 1h 20min down to just 46 min. Sounds like you could only run it at 1000LM twice (2 mins) before completely depleting the cells.

compard to the Manker LAD this one is better
really nice UV LED
no internal battery

Looked over it again. While I like removable batteries, one aspect of this feature here would be the missing charger. A key chain light is a great use case for plugging in a micro USB cable in order to charge it.
Removing batteries whenever they are empty (and, it seems like this is often the case) is not ideal for this type of light.

IMO MSRP is too high.

Can’t wait for the reviews though.

if it was usb rechargeable i would buy one ……… ( got a TIP )

I think they overdid this, to me its not a keychain light anymore when u are depending on external cells… 500 lumens on built in battery would be much better. If i want 1000 lumens i have real lights for that with bigger battery… and the price alone is just uhh no thanks… 60 bucks for that :frowning:
