WF-501B XPL-HI V3, 8x7135 Drvr $12.99

I saw some chatter about Manta Ray brand in old threads with good reviews. I came upon a deal in Amazon for this P60 light…they call it a “Mini c8”, for $12.99 and figured “why not”. OMG, it’s a fantastic light!

Deep reflector and nice tight hotspot and killer throw, pulling over 3 amps at the tail (Samsung 25R), legit XPL-HI. I haven’t ripped it apart yet to see what the MCPCB is or if it is indeed a 8x7135 driver (But it sure acts like it.) but figured I’d make a post about it since it’s only 12 bucks! Says there are only 13 left on Amzn.

Edit to say I have no affiliation with anything and this is just a regular link I wanted to share with you all.

Manta Ray Mini C8 XPL-HI 8x7135

They are great little torches, bought three of them a couple months ago and I love them. They do indeed have 8x7135 and a genuine xPl hi. Moded a couple of them with a mtn 17ddm Fet driver and this thing is bright and it throws! Now waiting for an sst-40 to see how they pair. Also chopped one of the tubes to fit an 18350 and it is by far my favorite semi pocket friendly flashlight.

Awesome, thanks for the confirmation…Hmmm, I think I might have an old 7135 driver hanging around I can borrow from and stack. LOL

I had the very same thought, but in my case I got lucky and one of my 18350 Manker/Astrolux tubes screwed right in. Edit: I wasn’t clear enough in that previous sentence. I did that with a Thorfire WF-502B I just checked the Manta Ray C8 Mini and the threads are different. Sorry if that messed anyone up. :person_facepalming:

When you say you hacked a tube, did you mean you literally cut it down and put new threads on with a die? Makes sense, a simple tubing cutter and even a cheapo die can cut threads in aluminum (Aluminium for our friends across the pond.) easily. Never really thought about it, as I have some 18500’s I’d like to use in a couple lights that would be perfect a half inch shorter.

As a side note, after posting this the “# left” dropped down to 5 in a couple hours. I had to grab an extra for myself before they were gone! LOL It’s down to one left for anyone reading this. :innocent:

Aww… That shorty is really cute. :+1: :+1: :+1:

No I used old lumens method to cut the tube down no re-threading. Which manker 18350 tube did you use?
And wow those went quick haha

I edited my original post. So sorry about that.

$25.99 now :expressionless:

Dang missed it… wish they were still $12.99!

Ya I think they all went within the first 2 days this thread stated haha. There’s another option on amazon for the same light for 20 bucks and on ebay and ae for around 18.50. Maybe with some time the seller will restock for 12.99 again

That SMO reflector looks really nice. Wonder how deep it is?

Cute light, but where’s the ’501B come in?

I was gonna say, a light that uses a drop-in would be kind of a lousy choice for 8×7135! :o

Still, I could always use a new light for Bicycle Hunting…

Reflector size is about 28.5 mm deep and about 30 mm wide. I don’t think a p60 drop in would fit in this light I believe those reflectors are about 26mm. So just a little bit bigger head on the c8 mini

Not this one, but a ’501B.

Another Mini C8
