Greetings from Ohio

Greetings all. I’ve been lurking the forum for a little while now, but I was finally inspired to register by the BLF GT project. I’ve had an interest in lights basically my entire life. I remember, as a child, “playing” with a wide variety of my father’s flashlights that were conveniently stashed in a pie safe (no pies though) in our kitchen. More recently, I’ve developed an affinity for a good light or lights working in the power generation sector, where having a good light at your side is a necessary tool of the trade. My every day carry for the past five years or so has been a Fenix LD20, which has served me very well. It’s the perfect size for my pocket, I typically use rechargeable NiMh AAs, but I can find batteries for it anywhere in a pinch, and it’s taken a lot of abuse and kept on going. I intend to keep carrying it daily until it is no longer functional. When that day comes, I’ll probably be soliciting advice for a similar size replacement from the forum.

That being said, for lights that are not necessarily every day carry, but could be used for inspection or general recreational/utility purposes, I generally gravitate towards a larger light with a traditional form factor. I’ve recently developed an interest in reviving one of my old 3D Cell Maglites, which I’m in the process of upgrading, and I just grabbed a deal on a Convoy L6 yesterday, based in large part on all the positive feedback I’ve seen for that light here. I’m also still hoping to get in on the group buy for the BLF GT, so I’m following the updates to that project closely.

I probably won’t be the type of member that has hundreds of posts, but I’m excited to be a part of the community. Cheers!

Welcome what part of Ohio

East-Central. Coshocton County. Lived in one part of the county or the other most of my life. It’s not very exciting, but it’s home.

That’s awesome not that far from me

Hi and welcome Sabowan. I’m sensing it wont be long until you need a bigger pie safe.

Oh Hi Yo , Much to learn you still have, young Sabowan

It's a pleasure to have you onboard, Sabowan!

Hey how are you doing man? Welcome to BLF! LD20 was my very first led light; I was just stunned by the quality and light output. I believe it was the Q5 version. :sunglasses:

Welcome to BLF Sabowan! Your Fenix LD20 will probably never die, but you should get replacement just in case - wink, wink.
