#Upcoming Review of the Sofirn SP32a Flashlight.

You’ll find this out when you get it but Sofirn’s instructions are wrong.

Changing from group 2 to group 1

Hold switch and it’ll ramp either up to High or ML, it’ll blink twice letting you know it’s at the highest or lowest, hold for a further 3 sec and it’ll blink twice again to change mode group.

You can’t accidentally change mode groups while ramping.

You’ve missed the function in ramping where two clicks get you into Turbo.

One thing i dislike about this torch is that while ramping it’ll pause for 1-2 seconds at 30%

Thanks Funtastic for the heads up. Have a great day.

Thanks for your feedback. We have checked our instructions and checked our flashlight in the factory.

There was something wrong when we print the instruction and we have fixed it.

Thank you very much for your feedback again.

Have a good time in BLF

A few questions:

  1. Forward clicky or reverse?
  2. Whats the step down time on high and turbo?
  3. Is the strobe single or two frequency?
    Thanks.

1) Not sure if it’s either when it’s an electronic switch. Same as the SP32
2) Step down from Turbo is 2 min, from High is 3 min. Wouldn’t want it any longer
3) Two frequency strobe

Another thing to mention is only the driver spring is bypassed. Not sure if it matters since there’s no tail switch and it’s a thick spring. I’m new to bypassed springs.

Unfortunately the SP32A isn’t any brighter than a stock BLF A6 (3D Tint) at 1250 Lumens. I used a freshly charged Sanyo NCR18650GA.

My camera settings were ISO 400, F5.0, 2s

Turbo step down timer is too long at 2 minutes. Needs to be around 40 seconds otherwise it gets far too hot.

How does the step down work in ramping mode? If it’s at its full brightness, does it still step down after a couple of minutes? And to what level does it step down?

Please tell me if you need more of the manual posted for your answer. Thanks.
Click on the manual to see the three pages larger.

Thanks for posting that. It only mentions Turbo and High being reduced; I don’t see anything about what happens in ramping mode. Can I assume that when it is ramped up to those levels, it will also be reduced automatically?

I will give it a try later and post results.

When ramping high is about 1000 lumens and low is Moonlight mode which is about 1 lumen. After three minutes it looks like medium mode. Double click for turbo. After three minutes it goes down to medium mode but stays at 900 lumens for about a minute. Does this answer your question?

Does this SP32A have this bug (I think it’s a bug)?

3 quick-clicks to get to Strobe mode
then do 4 quick-clicks to Lock-out.

Now, the flashlight is locked-out in Strobe mode.

Pressing the buttons does nothing, except doing 4 quick-clicks which unlocks the lock-out, then flashlight is back to normal.

Thanks, 264. That does help. Since medium is 160 lumens, that’s what I’d have to work with most of the time. My Coast polysteel 250 will serve me better.

Yup, I got that on mine too! Never noticed before :person_facepalming:

After 4 clicks my flashlight blinks twice signifying flashlight is locked out. Everytime you press the button the flashlight blinks twice till you repeat the 4 fast clicks to unlock the light.

Hum, d_t_a was mentioning to activate lockout while the strobe is ON!
When the light is OFF, mine behaves like you described
But when the strobe is ON, if the lockout is activated, it remains like that, the light gets locked and then you cant turn Strobe OFF.
Unless with 4 clicks to lock-out or unscrewing the threads !

I cannot get mine to lockout while the strobe flashes.
