I wonder how either configuration throws compared to the MF-02 ?

MF02 throws like 500k ~ 600k cd I think. I was thinking maybe the XHP35 HI version of MT09R throws about 150k ~ 200k cd? Just a guess.

I don’t think the MF02 is the right light to compare it to. The Acebeam X65 has 5 XHP35-HI in small, deep reflectors. It does 12k lumen and 423kcd. If we divide that up to only 3 emitters and 7,500 lumen this light might be more in the 250kcd to 300 kcd range.

It’s a silver finish, not sand or white.

I’m kind of surprised they didn’t use more emitters in this light when the updated MT03 doesn’t have much fewer lumens. The only good reason I can think of is to keep the price very close to the MT03.

The low mode should be lower.

5 or more 70.2 really need 8 cells to power it plus maybe a bigger head so that the reflectors are not too small. This would need a whole new design. Maybe in the future Haikelite will build a competitor for the Imalent dx80. Or maybe they think bigger, more expensive lights will not sell as many units as smaller, cheaper ones?

This is what I’m hoping for. It also makes sense to me if you have more than 12000+ lumens to switch to 8 cells. Also, a bigger light means a bigger head for higher continuous output. Surely it will be more expensive, but knowing Haikelite it will be amazing bang for the buck.

It’s only 40mm longer, so not nearly enough space for another stack of cells.

I’d be okay with not maxing out the emitters if they added more. Using more would run them more efficiently, so using the same amount of total watts would increase output by nearly 2k lumens. Bump the output a tiny bit for 15k lumens. With the extra mass and dissipation from 40mm extra length and 2mm extra diameter, it should be able to handle the heat. It’d be a flooder, and that’d be okay.

The low mode should be lower.

Big Smile i think it is my old LCD makes it looks as yellow as my sand around my house.

More leds will be flooder because reflector can’t be deep enough.
I think Haikelite is right to make this one shoot further than other big output lights. No point making it as floody as those.

Yeah, I agree. I’d go with the triple XHP35Hi version Big Smile

I forgot about the XHP 35 option. That makes adding emitters less attractive since it’d throw well with that small emitter. If it was just the big XHP70’s, I’d see little downside to adding more emitters.

The low mode should be lower.

I’ve come to believe that it’s morally wrong to own a flashlight that is not mainly black. But, still, seeing this minty, Christmas-y green is tempting somehow.

Nice, the black one look ordinary especially if you already owned MT07 i hope desert tan that i ordered look more special. Haikelite seems to have more industrial or utilitarian design to it’s light.

Honestly, even the black one looks super good to me; it just oozes serious business. I’m getting the green and tan. My goodness they both just look amazing; the performance should be mind blowing too. Party

The original was downgraded to 9k lumens afaik. Not sure on the new one. I think I was their first buyer, but I'm not doing that again until they have someone here verify its rating. Hopefully the MT09R can meet or exceed its rating.[/quote]

I have some news that I was going to wait until I got a sample or two but I will go ahead and let you guys know just because you all seem to love the lights.

There will very soon be an extended tube to hold 8 18650 cells for the MT09R, MT03, I am pretty sure a couple more but set up and testing is still in the works...

This is not months away. More likely just after the Holiday or possibly the first or second week of next month...

We really thank all of you for the great things you say about the brand and hIKARInoob I know and see how much you help out in the group buys when it is a Haikelite product and I have not had a chance to thank you.

I will keep you posted as best I can on what is coming...

When the MT03 came out its driver only produced 9,000 lumen. When they switched to the Texas Avenger based FET driver the output went up to 12,000 lumen. It might have been limited by the older xhp70 emitters.

The MT09R uses the lower Vf xhp70.2 which tends to pull higher amps in direct drive, hence their higher 15,000 lumen rating.

Honestly as far as color right now I am not sure... I was only told about this very late last night. I will be posting more information about it as I get it. I have a shipment due in tomorrow so I am pretty sure that Dale and I will be on the phone tomorrow at some point.

I will be doing that with every single light that ships from my company here in the U.S.

In fact I just printed out the the inspection labels about an hour ago. Once I check each light that label will be applied over the front flap where you open the box so that if you receive a light shipped from us and you don't see that label or there is a tear in it you will know that the box has been opened after it left my warehouse.

Holy cow! That is some exciting news! Do you think the extra 4 cells will result in more lumens or just longer runtime?

In theory, it should produce higher lumens due to less voltage sag under load.

Hi Terry, so the tube will screw into the existing tube acting as an extension or it will it be a 1 piece extension tube that replaces the original 4×18650 tube?
