Does anyone know the current best deal on 4pc button top samsung 30q? Banggood has a $20 deal w/o code, just not sure what battery shipping is like thru BG. Does a button top VTC6 exist? Can’t resist the BLF Q8 fever going around, but want to get the battery situation settled first.

Wait a minute!!

I thought the q8 used button top only, but am seeing some folks run flats in them. Is there an actual performance diff in them for this light? One post i read showed VTC6’s putting out slightly more lumens vs 30q. If the button top has its specific advantage then I’ll stick with that. So 30Q, VTC6 and HG2 are all gonna be equal in the 3000mah class regardless of top style? Replies r appreciated.

I run the VTC5A’s (raised flat tops) in both of mine (Q8’s) and the M6, to check for Max out put after mods, no problem. I also use the 30Q’s with solder blobbed tops, my Sky RC charger shows less resistance then the button top 30Q’s and the solder dosen’t scrape up the contact ring being lead is softer, but that just what I do…

Depends. Some flat-tops have the top almost flush with the shrinkwrap, others are slightly recessed. My FT 30Qs are the former, that if I squish down the battery tube, it’ll make contact with at least 1 cell (they’re all parallelled), but I wouldn’t want to trust that arrangement. First, rough spots on the contact ring might eventually cut through the shrinkwrap for a Really Bad Short, or just 1 cell might be making contact (only noticeable with lower output on max).

I got BTs on the way, so I’ll leave out the FTs and wait for them…
