Hmm, I might have to grab some of the smaller switches, then.

Thanks for this thread, been wondering about 1×7135 myself!!

Are there any premade lighted tail switches available, like ones where i wouldn’t have to mess with getting the resistance right?

Also i’ve heard some compatibility issues with biscotti firmware and lighted tailcaps, can anyone elaborate on this please?

Don’t mean to derail the thread but it seems like a question that would help others that have asked about the tailswitches too.

Should my information be incorrect in the slightest please inform me as i am always learning as well and may not recollect everything properly. ALSO, ANYTHING I WRITE PLEASE TAKE WITH A THOUSAND GRAINS OF SALT AND YOUR OWN LIABILITY, AS YOU SHOULD WITH ALL INFORMATION.

So, in the name of the “flashlight science”, I was messing with the S2+ Mini I received.
It had a 3*7135 Biscotti driver, and I wanted to test how low the lowest mode would go, meaning, I modded it and extracted 2 chips. Current driver situation is 1*7135.

And my final conclusion is… even with 1*7135 chip, the lowest mode (0,1%) is still brighter than some moonlight modes of flashlights like the Zanflare F1 or the Nitefox UT20 (especially when using the SMO or OP reflectors instead of the TIR lens).

I would compare it with other lights with “true” moonlight modes (Jetbeam RRT-01 or a modded light with Reylight Pineapple Brass driver), but those are the lowest output lights I have (firefly level), so I don’t think they are useful for this comparison.

When comparing it with 3 Convoy lights with Biscotti drivers with 8*7135 chips, this Convoy S2+ Mini doesn’t get a 0,1% mode higher than the ones of the other S2+, but the “Mini’s” level isn’t much below them (either using OP or SMO reflector or even Pebbled TIR lens).

With 1*7135 and/or with 3*7135 chips it is a light with a very low output on the lowest and nice output on the highest modes, very useful for indoor and/or outdoor at close range.

Thanks for confirming this.

I have a Convoy S2+ Desert Sand 7135×6 U6-3A (Biscotti, with the ‘too fast’ timing) and also Convoy C8 Clear XP-L Hi 7135×8 (1A tint; Biscotti normal). Also had an Astrolux S1 (BLF A6) 3D tint to compare with.

I notice that the moon mode of the Astrolux S1 is indeed dimmer than the lowest mode (0.1%) of either the Convoy S2+ and Convoy C8.

But when I compared the lowest Biscotti modes (0.1%) of the S2+ (7135×6, XPL Hi) and the C8 (7135×8, XPL Hi), I have the same observation — it’s almost the same brightness, or the S2+ 7135×6 is even very slightly brighter than the C8 7135×8. So it looks like the Biscotti’s lowest 0.1% mode is not really a true moon mode, even with less chips.

Yea, my Sand S2+ lowest mode is im guessing 2-3 lumens. It’s a touch brighter than my MH20 “moon mode” which is stated as 1 lumen but has been tested by others to be around 2 lumens.

Hey, thanks Wink
About the lighted tailswitch, Simon from Convoy has them. I think that Banggood has some lighted tailcaps as well, and they may fit the S2+!

BUT, as you said, there are compatibility issues between the Biscotti and the lighted tailcaps! Some things are say on the S2+ Tan thread, from here on: http://budgetlightforum.com/comment/1162155#comment-1162155

Don’t know how much it helps, but it may be a start!

Yup, differences are not much visible from 1 to 6/8 * 7135 chips! It is a nice mode, but not a true “moon” or “firefly” mode. Maybe it would need some optimization to get a bit lower, IDK!
Despite that, with 1 chip + TIR and/or diffuser, it is a nice “candle” for bedside using! I’ve been using it sometimes to not bling myself while falling asleep or if I get up during the night Wink
