This is not the best picture in the world but I don't think this light has been reviewed before.

I bought this at DX for $8.80 and got it mainly because I wanted a single AAA with a clicky switch. It's a one mode light with a SSC emitter of some kind.

The beam quality is nice as is the overall look/feel of this light. It has very good knurling and the threads are well cut and lubricated.

The tail cap reading was 350mA just as the specs said. The lumen output is supposed to be 90 lumens. It probably is not that but it is bright. The tail cap "action" is also what I would expect rather than that mushy feeling you sometimes find.

I don't know what else to say about it! I like smaller lights and although I prefer twisties in a light this small I got this one for something different. It has a nice weight to it as well. Not too light and not too heavy.

It's certainly the best quality I have in a light this inexpensive. It's available at Manafont and DD for about 20% more so I decided it was worth the wait for DX just on general principal this time :)

[Edit] One thing I should mention. The tail cap switch comes out if you press it without any batteries in the light. I don't know if this is just my light or if they are all like that. It's not a problem in that it doesn't try to come out when you are just changing batteries. You have to actually press the switch without batteries.

I suppose if you gave this as a gift to non-flashaholics it could cause some issues.

Any reason in particular you picked the TK701 over its younger brother, the 703? (other than the $2 price difference)

I figured the beam quality would be better since there is no “Cree Ring” in the 701 and with a SMO reflector I decided to play it safe (and save $2 or 25%).

I’ve now tested this with a 10400 and it works but is no brighter than with a AA NIMH.
I can also report that it isn’t waterproof. I throw it in the tub just for the heck of it. It continued to work but when I took it out the battery compartment had a few drops of water in it and I could see one drop behind the front lens.
I didn’t press the clicky while it was underwater but I think both the front lens and the tail switch leaked a bit.
I dried it out and it still works and should be fine for rain but nothing else. I more or less expected this and only did the test because I have a number of other single AAA lights.

interesting that it isn't brighter on li-ion. I wonder which will give you longer run time.

Yeah, I don’t know about the runtime. I really don’t use 10400’s. I have some just because of how much brighter they make my ITP A3 so it’s a novelty thing but even in that I usually just use NIMH.
In the case of the Tank007, the driver must be regulated so that it doesn’t matter what voltage you put in.

After using this for a while I should add that having a sticky in this light isn’t really a plus. It can tailstand (who cares in a light this small) but the button is so recessed that it’s hard to turn on in a comfortable manner.
IMO it would be much better if the tail switch was protruding making it more comfortable to turn on and off.
