Re: Need help choosing a decent tactical 18650 light

Hey guys, I have been buying a lot of lights recently. Mostly throwers. I am looking to buy one decent priced tactical edc light for my collection. I am looking for ones with good throw, spill and strike bezels in the 1000 plus lumen range. The closest one I have is Bushnell Pro Series 650 lumen from Wally World.

So far the only other few I am eyeballing are:

Olight Striker M1X

Wowtac A1S BSS TAC V2

Night Provision TX11

The only one that comes with battery is Wowtac so that might sway me that way. But who knows?

I am sure there are other lights out there in this division. So please add any comments or experiences with these 3 lights or any others out there.

Thanks so much.

I use the Olight M22 Warrior. It is just about as tough as you can get!! It fits in my hand very well and the bezel is all about business, aka striking! You can get to high or strobe with a few taps on the tail, plain and simple. I abuse the snot out of it and it just keeps going. I would go for the Olight Striker M1X but that’s just me. Good luck

Thanks Major, I have been eyeballing Striker on Amazon with package deal. But the other 2 are in my rare view mirror as well. Also worth noting is other brands: Fenix, Surefire, Klarus, Streamlight, etc… So much to choose from. But not financially possible. So I just like to grab the best ” bang for your buck ” type of deal if possible.

Hence, I figured to ask some of the ” pros ” here for insight.

When you say “tactical”, what are your exact requirements?
Instant/momentary access to strobe?
Instant/momentary access to high?
Instant/momentary access to any mode?
Crenulated bezel?

My current favourite “tactical” 18650 tube light is the Thorfire TK15S, which has momentary functionality on any memorised mode (including strobe and bike flash) and a neutral white tint.

Very good points. These are the most important ” tactical features

Instant/momentary access to strobe
Instant/momentary access to high
Crenulated bezel aggressive for defensive purposes.

Thanks for reply.

Klarus XT12GT

When you say EDC I consider it as a smaller head size powerful 18650 light. So only one that comes to my mind is KLARUS XT2CR

1600 lumens, comes with 3600 mAh battery, usb charging, 2 sets of modes ,tactical and outdoor…

Yep, Looks promising. Would you recommend over Olight Striker, Wowtac, and Night Provision?

Might pick up 2 different lights now. Thanks for input.

Again, choice looks promising. Would you consider this over Olight Striker, Night Provision, and Wowtac?

I will pick up at least 2 EDC Tactical lights now. Thanks for reply.

This is what I was going to recommend. I’ve got one carry edc or can mount to my rifle. This is the last tactical/handheld flashlight I will ever buy, it is an outstanding light in all aspects!

Thanks Matt, So far vote is for Klarus XT12GT.

Guess there is no love for Olight, Night Provision, and Wowtac?

Klarus XT11GT, Klarus XT2CR, Olight M2R, Nitecore P10GT should meet all of your requirements. Thorfire TK15S (smooth bezel), Wowtac A1S (no momentary strobe), Thrunite TC12v2 (no momentary strobe) will meet most of your requirements.

Thanks for all input guys. I am leaning towards Klarus brand. But I still need more information so I can absolutely chose the best bang for buck light. Not that the others are bad. I really want to be sure and buy correct light.

Ooh, I forgot about these. Any feedback?

1. Fenix TK15 UE

2. Klarus XT20
