Ceramic base adaptor for H3 to Osram 2 pin GY6.35?

Hi Guys. First post here. Been reading up a bit for a while though.

This is probably a strange question but here goes.

It struck me that I can get some very powerful Osram 2 pin Halogen globes (150w/12v and 250w/24v) and I have some good reflectors with H3 automotive bases (and some H2 and H1). I though that with the H3 it should not be impossible to make/modify a ceramic 2 pin holder to fit and focus in the H3 socket in particular.

Has anyone tried this in the past? Any success?

Any insights most welcome.

I made one, let me find the pictures

I could not find it, sorry! :frowning:

I asked back in 2004 on CPF and Gingseng gave me an idea here

I will try to explain what I did, I used it with an Osram 64625 HLX

You get one of these, you can find one with screws to hold the bulb in place is even better!

Use a dremel tool and cut the base of one of these, cut where the red arrow is and you will have an intact base

Now get the highest temperature epoxy you can find (650F + ) and glue the H3 base to the ceramic base, then you are done!

Thanks very much, That is exactly the part I was looking at modifying.

Does it need the H3 base disk? I don’t know the size of it, but I was hoping I could just shape it to fit the socket
Or is it too small in diameter and will fall through or not locate?

This is one of the Bulbs I am hoping to use: OSRAM Globe Halogen 12V 150W HLX62139
